Buddy Bench
Buddy Bench
We are excited that the students are utilizing our new Tobin Montessori Buddy Bench! What is a Buddy Bench you ask?
A Buddy Bench is a bench in a recess yard or park that helps kids build friendships and feel less lonely- watch video here.

Our Buddy Bench is extra special because it is in memory of one of our Tobin students, Sajni Chakrabarti. Sajni was an extraordinary child who believed in spreading kindness and celebrating differences.

Last week, each classroom teacher shared a presentation that described the Buddy Bench and how to use it. The presentation included information about who Sajni was and the powerful, positive impact she had on those around her. This Buddy Bench truly represents her spirit of friendship and love for our Tobin community.

See the presentation the classroom teacher shared here.

Click on the links below to learn more about how Sajni and how she continues to impact the world:

Please ask your child if they have used the Buddy Bench or if they have seen it in action!

nutcracker
Nutcracker
Ms. Carrie came to teach us about ballet and The Nutcracker. We learned there are different versions of the story, who wrote the original story, who composed the music, and who choreographed the ballet. We read books, danced, listened to music, and each had a turn with the nutcrackers! We got to try on various costume pieces that a ballet dancer would wear during a production of the Nutcracker. We were also so happy that our friends from room 286 were able to join us!

Turkey Trot
FeathersTurkey Trot
The Turkey Trot was amazing last week! All the children ran around the track with a feather that they decorated (it represented $1.00 in value). We had several family sponsors for this event...We are very grateful for your generosity. We were able to raise $521.00! Scott Brigante from the Margaret Fuller House came by to collect the check just before the Thanksgiving break.

MONTESSORI 101
December 5 | 8AM
Tobin Art Room

Please join us for a parent education session on the basics of the Montessori model. Parents will be given the opportunity to hear about what life is like inside the walls of a Montessori classroom. We will address the areas of the classroom, the materials students use, the philosophy, and how your child(ren) learn(s) “all that stuff”! We encourage our students to be active learners, and we hope you will join us on this journey, too. Even experienced families can learn something here, or share what they have learned with other families.

FYI
–Did you know that school breakfast is FREE for everyone?
–Did you know that if your child is eligible for reduced lunch, it is now FREE?
