Greetings from Julie Craven!
Dear RAUC Families,

Sunday was the first day of Hanukkah. To those celebratingHanukkah this Jewish holiday, Happy Hanukkah! The original message of resiliency and Jewish identity in a troubled time feels particularly resonant this year. The holiday reminds all of us about our collective responsibility to ensure that each member in our community feels safe to express their identity and celebrate their culture.

Peace,

Julie Craven,
Head of School

Winter Clubs Sign-up Information
The RAUC Clubs Winter program begin on Tuesday, January 8th and end on Thursday, March 14th. Students can sign up for clubs by filling out the sign up slip, attached here and also available with advisors and in the office. All after school programs are scheduled from 3-4PM. Students will have access to a late bus at 4PM which they will need to sign up for right after school ends in the main office. Late buses do not run on early release days and may be canceled due to inclement weather. Please note clubs may also be cancelled at the last minute due to teacher absence. While we do our best to let students and families know in advance, sometimes unexpected circumstances arise. A reminder that the last day of Fall Clubs is Thursday, December 13.

Vaping Warnings
Information on Vaping for Parents
In September 2018, FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb declared youth vaping an "epidemic," and said the agency will halt sales of flavored electronic cigarettes if the major manufacturers can't prove they are doing enough to keep them out of the hands of children and teens. More than 2 million middle school, high school and college students use the battery-powered devices to heat liquid-based nicotine into an inhalable vapor. According to the 2017 National Youth Tobacco Survey, E-cigarettes are by far the most popular tobacco product among teens: Nearly 12 percent of high school students and 3 percent of middle school students used the device in a given 30 day period. Attached here please find a comprehensive guide titled ‘What You Need to Know And How to Talk With Your Kids About Vaping’. This guide is intended to help you understand what vaping is, its appeal to youth and what research has to say about both the risks and unknowns, due to the lack of long-term vaping studies.
