RAUC
Semester is Coming to a Close
Grades close Friday, 1/25 and report cards will likely come out Fri 2/1. If your student has been absent, please make sure they have made up any major projects. You can also check Aspen to see how your student is doing. While the current grade may not reflect all work, please reach out to the teacher if you have any questions or concerns.

Courageous Conversations About RaceConvos on Tuesday 1/22
We hope you will join families and staff in the RAUC, Peabody, and Baldwin communities for this series of five conversations about race. Starting on Tuesday, January 22, they will be the fourth Tuesday of the month. Dinner is 5:30PM; conversations are 6-8PM. Please see attached flyer for more details.

RAUC Community Dance on Friday 1/25
Families always sponsor school dances--this time 6th grade families are sponsoring the winter dance, but all contributions are welcome. The dance is 6-8 PM in the RAUC cafeteria and tickets are $5 in advance or at the door. Refreshments will be available for purchase. As a community event, this is open only to RAUC students. We need help with food and drink donations as well as pre-dance set up, post-dance clean-up, selling pizza, and supervising the hallways during the dance. As always, all proceeds go directly to school enrichment funds through FRAUC. Please donate time and goods if you can! Sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080c4fa4a828aa8-2018

RAUC Speaker Event for Parents ALSO on Friday 1/25
For parents who would like to drop off their kids at the dance and head to an event geared specifically to parents, RAUC is hosting a talk that will teach parents how to mentor your children to engage in healthy behaviors, how you can foster their confidence and capacity to solve problems and build their independence, while at the same time providing appropriate support and supervision as adults. Titled Resilience, Relationships & Risky Behavior: What Parents Can Do to Support Their Children's Development and Safety in 2019, the talk will be held in A201 (Health Room) and run from 6-8PM. Email Taraneh Ahmadi to RSVP or with questions/comments. Feel free to bring a dish to share! View flyer >>

Mark Your Calendar: Unity Concert on Thursday 1/31
Our annual musical celebration of our performing groups is coming up! We will provide dinner 5:15-5:45 PM in the cafeteria. Performance is 6-8 PM in the gym. Teachers should be sending home information to their individual students. We hope you can make it to this joyful showcase of the talents and hard work of our band, chorus, orchestra and percussion students!

Community Market THIS Thursday 1/17
The Peabody/RAUC Free Community Market is this Thursday in the school cafeteria from 3:10-4PM. This week’s inventory includes sweet potatoes, potatoes, onions, carrots, cabbage, bananas, apples, tuna, yogurt, cheese, spaghetti, spaghetti sauce, Mac n’ Cheese, hummus and cider. Please do not forget to ‘Bring Your Own Bags’.

MLKMLK Day of Service Opportunity in Cambridge on Monday 1/21
On Monday, January 21, Cambridge City Hall will be hosting a community event from 2-5PM. Attendees will have an opportunity to make fleece scarves, blankets, valentines and sort food. Register here and don’t go empty handed! Take along a can of food, winter clothes or a children's book. All ages welcome! View flyer here.

Opportunity for Families to Help
Out at RAUC

Families often ask us how they can support the RAUC community and when we have suggested ways for you to do just that, you have not disappointed! We have a winter closet that is being accessed by students thanks to your generous clothing donations. Kind donations, and support, have also allowed us to start a snack pantry at school which is accessed by school teachers for their students so hunger does not interfere with learning. If families are still looking for ways to support RAUC, we are currently looking for water bottles, gatorade, granola bars, healthy snacks (goldfish crackers, pretzels), fresh fruit (clementines, bananas), paper towels, wipes and large ziplock bags. Contact Taraneh Ahmadi for your questions and comments.
