RAUC Reflects on Holiday Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
On Friday in advisories, teachers engaged students in reflecting on the significance of the holiday. The goal was to make sure students know who Dr. King is, why we have a holiday in his name, and what the day means to them. As noted on the national Constitution Center website, "Today, the King holiday serves multiple purposes: It honors the total legacy of King; focuses on the issue of civil rights; highlights the use of nonviolence to promote change; and calls people into public service." (from How MLK Jr's Birthday Became a Holiday, which is an interesting short read).

RAUC Dance this Friday!

  • 6-8PM in the cafeteria.
  • Tickets $5, sold at lunch or at the door.
  • As a community event, only RAUC students may attend.
  • Dances are fun AND a major fundraising source to support enrichment experiences for all our students.
Please support the dance by volunteering to bring a snack, paper goods, some pizza money, or set up and clean up: click here to support.

RAUC Students Shine at All City Concert
On January 16th, upper school students from across the district participated in the All City Concert at the Fitzgerald Theatre of CRLS. Many participants in the band, orchestra and chorus were RAUC students who continue to represent our school positively with their musical skills. Congratulations to all of our students on a truly outstanding performance! And kudos to Brittany Phillips, RAUC orchestra teacher and conductor of All City Orchestra, for supporting so many of our students in bringing their talents to a bigger stage. The new semester for the All City Program begins on January 30th, and is open to all upper school students. Please see here for more information.

Opportunity for Families to Help Out at RAUC
Families often ask us how they can support the RAUC community and when we have suggested ways for you to do just that, you have not disappointed! We have a winter closet that is being accessed by students thanks to your generous clothing donations. Kind donations, and support, have also allowed us to start a snack pantry at school which is accessed by school teachers for their students so hunger does not interfere with learning. If families are still looking for ways to support RAUC, we are currently looking for water bottles, gatorade, granola bars, healthy snacks (goldfish crackers, pretzels), fresh fruit (clementines, bananas), paper towels, wipes and large ziplock bags. Contact Taraneh Ahmadi for your questions and comments.
