Garden Update

Classes have been busy with garden lessons indoors and outdoors! Ms. Carpenter's kindergarteners learned how to use hand lenses as they observed aphids. Mrs. Galante's first graders compared worms and aphids. They learned that animals can have different body parts and different senses that fill the same function. Mrs. Walker's second graders mulched our entire garden to protect our soil from erosion. Ms. Schineller and Ms. Cole's third graders started seeds indoors. Spring is around the corner! (if you walk really slowly). After February break, classes will start sowing seeds in trays in windowsills, so that we can transplant them come spring. Visit the garden to see kale and other brassica (like collard greens and cabbage) that are hanging in there! Thanks, Ms. McEachern's class, for putting up that hoop house!
