Introducing Portfolios at RAUC
We are happy to introduce an exciting component of the student experience at Rindge Avenue Upper School: student-created portfolios. Students will thoughtfully collect examples of their work and reflect on them in a presentation at the end of the year. A portfolio process has been used successfully in other Cambridge Public Schools to deeply engage students with their education throughout the year. Teachers introduced portfolios to students last week. Please read the attached letter for a more complete understanding of what portfolios will be at Rindge Avenue.

Love Simon

GSA is Sponsoring a Movie Night
On Friday March, 8th, RAUC’s GSA (Genders and Sexualities Alliance) will be holding a showing of the movie Love, Simon starting at 6PM in the auditorium. Love, Simon is based on the book Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli. The main character is a high school student named Simon, who is currently in the closet. He gets blackmailed by a classmate, who has found out about his secret. We are showing this movie to gain acceptance for queer students in our school community and to raise awareness of the GSA.

RAUC students and their families are all invited, as we hope the movie will start discussions. As the movie is rated PG-13, all students under the age of 13 must have a signed permission slip or be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Viewing the movie is free, but there will be concessions and home-baked goods for sale at the event. Proceed to support the Y2Y Youth Shelter as well as future GSA activities.

You can view the show March 11- 29 at the Art Center on 41 Second Street in East Cambridge. View Flyer>>

Did you know...?
The EBT Card to Culture program is a joint venture between the Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA), the Massachusetts Cultural Council, and many of the best cultural institutions across the Commonwealth. EBT Card to Culture allows those receiving benefits from DTA to access museums, performances, and other cultural programming at a reduced or free cost. In most instances, when you arrive at the museum, you should show your EBT card at the ticket counter and you will receive a discounted admission price. Other organizations
suggest reserving tickets in advance. Make sure to look at the discount offered by each organization before visiting the location of your choice. Now you know!
