Reflections from Katie
As the days get longer and the weather starts to turn warmer, it is easy to feel like we need to just keep packing more into our days. What felt like “an extra hour” a few weeks ago, now has been filled with outdoor activities and new commitments. The spring time in a school community is a busy time, and we all have to make choices about how we divide our time. We have to prioritize with the knowledge and understanding that if we can not make it to one particular event, that does not mean we are less committed or invested. Hear more >>

Who Are the People in Your Neighborhood?
jessicaMeet Kindergarten parent and PTO treasurer Jessica Deck

How long have you been at Cambridgeport?
I have been here since the fall of 2017 when my boys started here in Kedar’s Special Start classroom.

What is you favorite TV show and book?
Gray’s Anatomy! The book I’ve been carrying around but haven’t started yet is the Golden Compass, by Philip Pullman.

Tell us about yourself.
I worked in profit management before the boys were born, but have stayed home since them. I am the treasurer of the Cambridgeport Parent Teacher Organization.

What kind of animal would you like to be?
I would like to be a panda. I have a memory from when I was a kid of how neat it was to see one for the first time. And I would get to eat bamboo all day.

Andrea Harvey Memorial Walk
April 7 | Fresh Pond, Cambridge

Please join us for the Cambridge City 5k Run/Walk on April 7, 2019. Arrival starts at 8AM and the Run/Walk starts at 9AM.

Funds raised from the pledge go to the Andrea Harvey Memorial Fund (AHMF), which gives scholarships to deserved high school seniors entering college. This year we will provide one $1000.00 scholarship to a senior from CRLS (where Andrea was a student), and one $1000.00 scholarship to a senior at East Boston High School (where Andrea taught math). We will also give two $1000.00 scholarships to merited college bound students in memory of Les Kimbrough who was the treasurer of the AHMF and a Dean at CRLS. He devoted much of his efforts in promoting and supporting the Andrea Harvey Memorial Fund and the Run/Walk. Because Andrea's life was cut short by domestic violence, the AHMF also supports domestic violence prevention programs.

Donations and pledge sheets should be dropped off at the AHMF table at the Run/Walk, or mail to: Andrea Harvey Memorial Fund, c/o Cambridge Teachers Credit Union, 459 Broadway, Cambridge MA 02138
