Room 283 Students are Learning About the Human Body
In the Science area, Room 283 students have been studying general anatomy as a part of the Human Body unit. The students learn that there are many body systems: skeletal (bones), muscular (muscles), circulatory (heart, blood, vessels), and others; each system has its own job in our bodies. The kindergartners have created models of the human body by tracing their own bodies, drawing and labeling the major bones. Singing The Boney Hokey Pokey song is a fun way to learn many of 206 bones, starting with the skull and going all the way down to the phalanges of the toe bones.

Save the Date!
Tobin School Art Show
Friday May 31st | 8-9AM

We are seeking volunteers to help the Tobin community prepare for the annual Art Show, which will take place on Friday, May 31st from 8-9am, and stay up for a few days.

We have a few different types of help that is needed:
  • Preparing artwork for display(labeling, checking names off etc.)
  • Hanging artwork for display
  • Day-of the event set up & clean up
  • After event: taking art work down, organizing and returning artwork
Please sign up here.

We also recognize that not everyone can make the time commitment to come in an volunteer, and we want you to know you can get involved too! Other ways to help: promote our Art Show on social media and word of mouth, or support us at our student-run sketchbook sale!

Thank you again for all of your support, we appreciate your willingness to help, in any capacity you wish!

Sincerely,
Yuliya Paylor & the Art Show Committee

Stop-Motion Movies
In Technology class, Tobin 3rd graders learned how to make stop-motion movies. Using paper, Model Magic and iPads, they created movies illustrating the life cycles of plants, mealworms and salmon.

Auction

The Friends of Tobin Auction
was a Success!

On Saturday, April 27, over 50 people – Tobin parents, staff, and alumni parents – attended Friends of Tobin’s annual spring auction. This year, the event was held at Olé Mexican Grill in Inman Square and included their fresh guacamole and a delicious taco bar. Over 75 items were up for auction, generously donated by many local businesses and CPS families. The community helped to raise over $8,000 to support activities at Tobin – and everyone had a great evening!

Thank you to all of our generous donors!

IMPORTANT THINGS TO REMEMBER BY MISTER ROGERS

There is no normal life that is free of pain. It's the very wrestling with our problems that can be the impetus for our growth.
