Diversity Dialogues: Understanding the Forces Shaping the Asian American Youth Experience
May 16 | 6 - 8PM
The topic of this series, “Understanding the Forces Shaping the Asian American Youth Experience,” will be facilitated by Dr. Karen Shih. Dinner will commence at 6PM. Please RSVP via the link on the flyer by tonight if you wish to attend.

Grade 8 Science MCAS Exam

Scholars will present their kinetic sculpture projects to their caregivers and CSV Netpals. Coffee and tea will be provided. Please join us in celebrating our scholars’ hard work.

Grade 6 On Bike Training
May 20-24
Safe Routes to School offers bicycle and pedestrian education to Cambridge students. The training build students’ traffic safety skills, helps them navigate the city safely by foot or bicycle, and teaches students why walking and bicycling are good for themselves and the environment. The final lesson will include an off-campus ride with assistance from the Cambridge Police Department.

7th Annual Spring into the Arts Festival
May 23 and May 30 | 6 - 8PM
There will be two opportunities for families to see evening performances by the Band, Orchestra, Chamber Ensemble, Jazz Band, Chorus, the Cobra Dance Crew Color Guard and Theatre Improv. Visual artwork will also be on display for families to preview. Please join us! Learn more >>

Grade 8 Science Showcase
May 24
Scholars will participate in the 9th Annual Science and Engineering Showcase at Harvard University. Families are invited to the public viewing of projects from 10:30AM - 1PM in the Northwest Building, 52 Oxford Street. Congratulations to Cidra, who created this year's design that will be printed on t-shirts and event materials. More information >>

Memorial Day (No School)
May 27
Come see the CSUS Cobras march in the Memorial Day Parade! It will begin with a cannon salute by the MA Bicentennial Battery at 9:30AM, on the Cambridge Common and proceed through Harvard Square, up Mount Auburn Street to Coolidge Avenue, and conclude at the Cambridge Cemetery on Coolidge Avenue.

Food, Fun, Facts, and Figures
May 29
Incoming sixth graders will have their first chance to meet CSUS staff and ask those burning questions. The evening will also include dinner and a scavenger hunt.

Grade 8 Algebra Final
May 30

Graduation Rehearsal (during the school day)
May 31
Grade 8 Scholars will rehearse for their graduation ceremony for the first on stage in the auditorium!!!! It’s important that all graduating scholars are in attendance.

Grade 8 Portfolio Conferences

June 3, 4, 6 & 10
Moving from 8th grade to high school is an important passage. As part of this significant transition all 8th grade scholars will complete a passage portfolio in June. This will consist of a 30-minute presentation given to caregivers, teachers, and members of the CSUS community. The portfolio will be centered around CSUS’ Powerful Practices for Life.

CSUS Soccer Championship
June 4 | 3PM
This year’s championship will take place at Danehy Park. All five schools will compete as coed teams for the title of City Soccer Champions. CSUS has a strong team this year and should go deep. Come make some noise!

Grade 8 Semi-formal Dance
June 7
The eight graders will end their year with a semi-formal dance in the activity room. This is a free event and dinner will be provided.

Orienteering Championship @ Danehy Park
June 11 | 3PM
If you've never seen this, you need to come check it out. Scholars work in pairs to read maps and find all of the hidden checkpoints faster than opponents in this very unique racing sport. CSUS won the last two events and all four members of those two championship teams will be competing in this year’s meet! Who will come out on top this time?

Parent Caregiver Meeting
June 12 | 6:30 - 8PM

Grade 8 Trip to New York City
June 12, 13
The eighth graders will be celebrating a wonderful year of hard work and success in the Big Apple! This is a two day, one-night trip where scholars will explore various attractions according to their choice.

CSUS Graduation (All scholars will be dismissed at 12Noon)
June 14 | 4PM
The grade eight commencement ceremony will take place in the CSUS auditorium. Doors will open at 3:15PM. All guests must have a ticket to attend.

Grade 6 Trip to Canobie Lake
June 17
Scholars will attend this amusement park for a day of fun in the sun! Scholars are encouraged to bring a bag lunch. If your child needs a lunch, please indicate that on the permission. Scholars are not allowed to wear swimsuits and will not be participating in any swim activities. Please be advised that we plan to return at 4:30PM.

Grade 7 Trip to Lucky Strike
June 17
Grade 7 is going to celebrate the end of the year with a field trip to Lucky Strike in Assembly Row. Scholars will participate in bowling ten pin and playing arcade games. We depart CSUS at 10AM and return to CSUS for 1:30PM.

Councillor Sumbul Siddiqui, Mayor Marc McGovern, and the Cambridge Employee Diversity Committee invite you to the 2nd Annual Cambridge Community Iftar in celebration of the month of Ramadan. The Iftar is the daily sunset meal to break the day’s fasting during Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, and one observed as holy by those of Muslim faith worldwide. Ramadan began this year on May 5th and will end on the evening of June 4th, 2019.

Pinkalicious and Peterrific!
WGBH is looking for kids for short video segments for the PBS television series Pinkalicious and Peterrific, an animated show about creativity. WGBH needs kids aged 7 to 9 who are interested in participating in activities relating to music, theater, dance, and the visual arts.

Courageous Conversations
All are welcome to join a series of community meetings that will take place at Rindge Avenue Upper School for the North Cambridge community, including the Baldwin community. These sessions are designed to talk about issues around racial equity, racial bias in education, racial identity, and more. Each session builds on the previous, so you are urged to try to attend as many as possible. 

Sessions take place at 70 Rindge Avenue from 5:30 - 8PM with dinner provided and childcare for ages 3 and older. If you have any questions, please contact Tina Lieu.
