Art Show

Message from Principal Chad Leith
Dear Morse School parents and caregivers,

We are in the home stretch of the school year and continue to engage our kids in field trips, culminating projects, and celebrations. If you have not yet had a chance to do so, I strongly encourage you to stop by Gallery 263 at the corner of Pearl St. and Putnam Ave. to see our children’s beautiful artwork on display! Many thanks to our amazing art teacher, Aimee Kerr, for helping our children express themselves through the visual arts, and congratulations to our students for sharing such wonderful work with the Cambridge community. The Morse Art Show will wrap up on Saturday morning, so please be sure to visit soon! (See attached flyer)

This afternoon, members of the Morse School community and our Cambridgeport neighbors are also invited to stop by our playground for a special ceremony to celebrate the completion of the Morse School playground renovation project. The event will take place from 2:30-3:30PM. Please come by after dismissal to enjoy some refreshments and hear some word from the city leaders who helped make the project possible. (See attached flyer)

Tomorrow morning at 9AM, our 2nd graders will take the stage for this year’s production of Charlotte’s Web. This wonderful Morse School tradition would not be possible without the creativity and patience of our 2nd grade teachers, Mr. Rick, Ms. Rocha and Ms. Smith-MacKenzie, as well as our 2nd grade paraprofessionals Cathy Hemenway and Marco Madera, and our specialist teachers Ms. Kerr and Ms. Graeber.

Of course, the Morse School is a dynamic and welcoming place not only because of our teachers, staff, and students, but also because of you. As Morse School principal, I am grateful to the parents, caregivers, and family members who - through efforts big and small - help to support our vision of a school in which all children have access to the opportunities and the academic, social, and emotional resources they need to attain their full potential. Thank you for choosing the Morse School and for being part of the moments that make our school special.

Sincerely,

Chad Leith

2nd Annual Reader Prom
June 15 | 7:30PM | Dilboy VFW, Davis Square
The Porter Square Books Foundation, who brought George O’Connor and Jerry Craft to speak to the students of the Cambridge Schools this year, is hosting their 2nd Annual Reader Prom. All the proceeds will go to the Foundation and will help us bring more events and books to the students of Cambridge. Dress up in your finest prom fashion and bring a copy of your favorite book as your date to donate to a local nonprofit. (It’s the only prom where you’re supposed to dump your date right away!) There will be free snacks and soft drinks, a cash bar, music, dancing, “after-prom” style games and activities, and, of course, “chaperones.” You’ll also be able to get a formal prom picture with your “date” from and a bookish corsage.
