Reflections from Katie

As I have launched Friday Updates from Katie this year, it has taken a bit longer to get our first real newsletter, Cambridgeport Connections, out to you. I hope you have been enjoying receiving the weekly peeks into the classroom and reminders about upcoming events and general “how things work at Cambridgeport” information. I want to use the opportunity of the monthly Cambridgeport Connections newsletter to take a deeper look at certain topics through the “Reflections from Katie” section. In the coming months, I also hope to have other voices of Cambridgeport share their reflections in this column so that “Reflections from Katie” becomes “Reflections from the Cambridgeport Community.”

Our mission is to empower underrepresented groups in the media arts, like women and people of color, to develop careers in audio/video through job training and job placement. So many young people from underrepresented backgrounds are being left out of careers in the creative economy. The Loop Lab is a Cambridge-based non-profit social enterprise specializing in media arts internships and digital storytelling. Our mission is to empower underrepresented groups in the media arts, like women and people of color, to develop careers in audio/video through job training and job placement. We help to sustain our mission by offering for-hire media production services to our clients/donors. How can we help you tell your story? As an organization, we are committed to ending inequality and racism through digital storytelling. As an academic partner of the Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology, we offer our trainees college credits and free dual enrollment into college!
