What's Better Than Ice Cream for Dinner?!?!
Please join us for a Back-to-School Ice Cream Social on Tuesday, September 10th from 5-6PM.
This is a great opportunity for new families to meet other families, for kids to make new friends and for current families to catch up with old friends! We hope you can join us behind the school!
News from Mr. Gill, Our New Physical Education Teacher!
This week in PE is all about routine, as I'm sure is the same for all classrooms. A highlight so far is the introduction of the "happy emoji." This is a small, laminated printed version of the happy emoji that works as a positive behavior incentive. Each PE class, one student is given an emoji who demonstrated exceptional participation and positive behavior (i.e. helping other students). No student may receive an emoji more than once, so each student has an opportunity to show their positive behavior throughout the year. I've already noticed lots of students going out of their way to be kind to others (i.e. help tying shoes, re-explaining the directions, encouraging and cheering for others).
Help Students Get Rid of It Right in Our Cafeteria
It’s back-to-school time and WE NEED YOU! Our school has composting and recycling in the cafeteria, and students will need help remembering, and for the JK/K and new students, learning, what goes where. Recycle? Compost? Share Table? Having adults to guide students (and thank them) makes a big difference. Email Meryl at DPW if you can help at a few lunches or breakfasts during the first month of school (ongoing help is also welcome!). Thank you in advance for empowering students to help the earth every time they clean up after a meal.
