CitySprouts Corner
Stephanie Budd is the CitySprouts Garden Educator at the Haggerty School this school year! She is bringing almost 10 years of growing experience and science knowledge to the position. Most recently, she spent 3 years designing original curriculum and teaching middle school science classes in The Gambia. With that school, Stephanie started an on-site garden that enhanced student learning and was ultimately managed by students. The bulk of Stephanie’s farming know-how was developed throughout 6 years of leading afterschool and summer farm programming at the Chicago Lights Urban Farm in Chicago. She managed the Children's Garden, but also taught youth cooking classes with farm produce and led a creative arts program inspired by nature. Stephanie’s favorite things to do are get her hands dirty, bake with pumpkins, and learn new farm puns!

Race Matters: Courageous Conversations
Wee the People - Thursday, November 7th - 6 - 7:30 PM
What is Racism?
Kids notice a LOT -- including skin color. They sense that it matters, and they have questions about how and why. Together we will explore how racism isn’t just one thing, but a system with many parts working together. Through activities, kids will learn how they can help disrupt and topple these systems. More info. This workshop is geared toward parents/caregivers and students together.
New this year Race matters will be sending out a monthly newsletter with anti-racist articles, books, and actions steps. e-mail [email protected] if you want to be added to our listserv.
