HSEP Showcase Night

ShowcaseHSEP’s first ever Showcase Night was a huge success! Well attended by students and community members, the Showcase was an opportunity for students to share their learning from Quarter 1. Students created displays that showcased their final projects, as well as the process for each of their units in 11th and 12th grade. Students chose the format of the event and ordered catered food (yummy S & S wings!) for guests and staff. Work on display included: student goal setting, construction of model homes, budgeting, short documentary films about different careers, creation of a greenhouse, and redesigning of political maps of the city to enact social change.

Field Trip to Harvard's Museum of Natural History

Harvard MuseumCohotrts H and S led by Ms. Robb and Mr. Goldman attended a field trip to Harvard’s Museum of Natural History to see their Climate Change exhibit. The exhibit draws on the latest scientific information about our warming climate and its global and local consequences. This event kicked off the new unit for upperclassmen, called A Warmer World. In this particular unit, students are investigating the effects of climate change by imagining a world that is five degrees warmer. They are using this information as the setting for a graphic novel or short story, which they will market with merchandise at our next showcase.
