Computer Science Week was a Success!
All Tobin students, from Children's House to Upper Elementary had the opportunity to learn about Computer Science this month. Younger students programmed human "robots" to make jelly sandwiches, Lower Elementary students coded real robots, while older students learned block languages, and many created their own websites using HTML! Big thanks to the parents who volunteered and to the teachers for being flexible with their time!

Learning About Kwanzaa
The Smith family came in and shared their wonderful family holiday tradition: Kwanzaa! Damon read "My First Kwanzaa" by Karen Katz. We learned the seven principles (one for each candle) and new vocabulary such as kinara (candle holder), zawadi (gift), and our favorite principle, Ujima (working together)!

HGSE Interns
Each year the Tobin has the privilege to host interns from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. They are certified teachers, who are now doing advanced graduate study to become Reading Specialists. This fall, Christina Correa, Lauren Cardenas and David Bates from Harvard have been working with three of our wonderful Upper El students - Naod, Yabese and Maria. They have been exploring all areas of literacy - including reading, vocabulary, word study and writing and developing and growing their skills. This week they presented a showcase of their work for parents, teachers and friends. We are so proud of their hard work! And we are looking forward to having Ms. Christina, Ms. Lauren and Mr. David back in the spring semester to work with even more Tobin students!
