February 2020

Reflections from Our Guest Writers
Mollie Richards, Renée Georgette, and Rachel Devlin

We are the special educators here at Cambridgeport. All of us have been here since September of 2014. We work with small groups in our own rooms and also in the large classrooms. We teach lessons in various subjects geared toward the individual needs of each student. Our training includes many research-based multisensory methods and approaches including Orton-Gillingham, Wilson Reading, Visualizing & Verbalizing, Stern Math, Empower, and LINKS. Multisensory techniques use a combination of different senses (visual, auditory, tactile, and kinesthetic) to help students learn and remember. Completing academic testing for evaluations is also part of our job. Our job is exciting and we enjoy being able to interact with so many different students and educators throughout the building.

Free Ice Skating
Saturday, March 14
Simoni Rink, 155 Gore Street
Mark your calendars for our next Ice Skating Afternoon with Mr. Lore! This FREE event is paid for by the CPTO, and includes skate rentals and 50 minutes of ice time; please plan to arrive between 2:30 & 2:45PM to put your skates on, and we'll be on the ice from 3-3:50PM. As skate rentals are limited, if you have your own skates, please bring them, along with an ice or bike helmet; Mr. Lore will bring spares, but kids will not be allowed on the ice without a helmet. If you have an extra helmet to share, feel free to bring it. And if you are a skilled skater and would like to help kids out on the ice, let us know! Please note this is not a drop-off event – kids must be accompanied by an adult.
