KLO Newsletter
February 2020

Greetings from the Family Liaison

Black History MonthFebruary is Black History Month! We are celebrating in class, in our specials, and in our shared spaces. This month we are starting the morning with a Black History fact or biography during our announcements. When you discuss the day with your children ask them if they remember that day’s information.

We are all looking forward to February break! Keep in mind that when we come back it’s time to start thinking about summer! Mark your calendars because March 3rd is the Camp Night at CRLS. The vast majority of camp providers are there, so you can get information from a variety camps. There is additional information in this newsletter.

Visiting Author!
MayerWe are delighted to announce that local Author Ellen Mayer will be doing a K-Lo Residency with our Special Start and JK classrooms. Ellen's books are published by Starbright books, a local Cambridge publisher and are aimed at an audience of preschoolers.

Ellen and her husband Malcolm came to Special Start classrooms and JK classrooms in January and February. One of the goals of Starbright Books is to build vocabulary, and Ellen and her husband, Malcolm sing tell stories to the children to help them do that in a delightful, fun way. They are planning to come back to the same classrooms throughout the rest of the school year. Stay tuned for more information!
