World Language Week

Monday, March 2nd marks the beginning of World Language Week, here at CSUS. During this week we celebrate and honor the languages and cultures of our scholars and their families. On Thursday, March 5th from 6:30 - 8PM, join us in the CSUS Cafeteria for an evening of musical performances, a game of trivia with Kahoot, voting for the winner of our poster competition, and our annual POTLUCK DINNER. CSUS Theater: Marian or The True Tale of Robin Hood

MarianMarian or the True Tale of Robin Hood is coming up! Come support the over 40 scholars involved in the cast and crew of this year's school play, a contemporary, gender bent take on the classic tale. Performances are March 19th and 20th at 7PM in the Auditorium. Tickets are available at the door for a suggested donation of $5. Hope to see you there! View the Flyer >>

Reminder: CSUS Breakfast free
for all Scholars

Free breakfast is offered to all scholars who arrive to school between 7:40 - 8:40AM. The Food Service Dept. has sent communication to remind families via snail mail. Daily breakfast options include an entree, a meat alternative, fresh fruit, and milk or juice. Highlights for this week include a banana split parfait and complete waffle bar. Caregiver / Community
8th Grade Celebration

Sunday, May 3rd | 11AM – 3PM
Can you believe our kids are about to graduate from CSUS? Let’s come together to mark this major milestone. This potluck brunch will also raise funds to benefit the 8th grade NYC trip —any donations welcome. A few details: Bring a dish or drink to 65 Chestnut Street (an 8th-grade family) Leave the kids at home! This event is for adults only.

CSUS Chorus Updates
Jazz Band and Chamber Ensemble Performance for World Language Night This Thursday! Members of the Jazz Band and Chamber Ensemble will perform at World Language Night this Thursday, March 5th. Performers should arrive at 6PM. Event is from 6:30 - 8:30PM, dinner will be provided.

CSUS Student Council: Toiletry Drive
The Cambridge Street Upper School Student Council will be undertaking a Toiletry Drive for our School Pantry. If you would like to donate any items we will gladly accept them! For more information please read our flyer!

ARC is Back

The spring session of the Academic Resource Center will begin next Tuesday, March 10th after school. The ARC is a place for scholars to complete their assignments and receive academic support if necessary. Each session will run from 3:05-4:20PM every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The late bus is free and available for all scholars. It departs from CSUS at 4:30PM. Snack will be provided.

CSUS Trivia Night Fundraisers

CSUS would like to invite Parents and Caregivers to an Adult Only Trivia Night Fundraiser taking place Thursday, March 12th from 6 - 9:30PM. The Trivia Night will be taking place at Joe Sent Me, 2388 Massachusetts Ave. Cambridge, MA. All funds raised from this event will go towards CSUS School activities and events. Purchase tickets. For more information please read our flyer!

2020 Family Survey Available Online

Many of you filled out the Cambridge Public School Family Survey last year to help us learn more about your experiences with the Cambridge Public Schools. Thank you! The Family Survey for 2020 is now available in over 10 languages. We invite you to please fill it out at your earliest convenience. Your feedback will contribute to our ongoing efforts to learn, improve, and support better outcomes for all students.

Happy National Nutrition Month!

eat rightDid you know that students who eat breakfast may see increases in their concentration and test scores? Students who regularly eat breakfast also have fewer behavioral issues in the classroom and fewer tardy days. Cambridge schools offer FREE complete breakfast (i.e., a hot meal, fruit and milk) to all students. Maybe it’s time your family gave it a try? Find school menus here >>

School Breakfast Week & World Food Taste Party - March 4th! 

nsbw graphicFood & Nutrition Services invites you to join us in celebrating National School Breakfast Week March 2nd - 6th, with an Out of This Country theme. Our theme coincides with World Language Week, in which kitchens will be featuring cultural dishes from around the world at lunch. 

As part of breakfast week, we will be hosting a World Food Tour Taste Party for select schools. The Graham & Parks School will have a sampling of Middle Eastern Shakshuka Sauce & Pita, featuring Inna's Kitchen homemade sauce, on Wednesday, March 4th, during breakfast time (please see here for more info). We're excited to celebrate with you!

Last Day of School
The last day of school with one snow day in CPS will be Wednesday, June 17. As in the past, the last day of school will be an early release day for all grades. We apologize for any confusion caused by discrepancies between published version of our calendars, and hope this clarification will be helpful to you.

Cambridge Works is currently recruiting for our 24th cycle of the program which will be starting this coming March. This 3-month employment and training program offers a paid internship, professional development classes and case management. If you know any Cambridge residents ages 18 - 35 without a college degree, out of work or with limited/no work experience, please have them contact us. Please think of anyone, family members, neighbors, friends, acquaintances anyone you know who may need help with employment.
