Dear Families
I hope everyone enjoyed Virtual Field Day today! It is hard to believe that we just finished our last full week of school. It has been one of the strangest and more difficult school years for sure but one thing that has kept me going through all of this is our Amigos community. I am so appreciative of all the work my staff has done and continues to do and so appreciative of you, our families.
Our 8th grade graduation ceremony will take place on June 16th at 3PM via live stream on our web page and district channels 99/98. All are invited to watch it! For families of 8th grade students, I encourage you to get together as a family and virtually watch the ceremony and celebrate afterwards. Student graduation packets will be delivered later on in the week (more details will be sent to 8th grade families directly). I also want to take a moment to recognize our amazing 8th grade students. We had a culminating trip to New York City planned when schools closed. That trip was cancelled and the students worked together to determine that the money they raised for the trip would be donated to charity. I am so proud of them and impressed with their thoughtfulness. If you see an 8th grader, please be sure to recognize them.
I want to thank everyone who supported the Friends of Amigos (FOA) this year. This year FoA funded field trips to theaters, farms, museums, historic and natural parks but more importantly, FOA allowed us to support those of us who have struggled the most during the school closure period with extra food cards. With this in mind, I encourage you to join FOA. They are looking for new leadership next year and new members! Don’t miss your opportunity to participate!
Wednesday, June 17th is the last day of school. There will be no report cards sent home this year but you will receive a review of the year from your students’ teachers and/or advisors and an update on their remote learning participation. Class placement lists will be sent home over the summer once we have a clearer view of how school will look next year. That said, we reserve the right to make changes at any time and as needed due to the ever evolving health crisis. Also, while I know many of you are looking to disconnect, please take a moment to look at the different summer opportunities we have available this year and look for a selection of Spanish books to be sent directly to your homes!
Finally, for students who are moving from 5th grade to middle school, we have a presentation for you here: English or Spanish. It is important to watch it so that you are ready for September and the return to school.

Estimadas Familias
¡Espero que todos hayan disfrutado del Día de Campo Virtual hoy! Es difícil de creer que acabamos de terminar nuestra última semana completa de escuela. Ha sido uno de los años escolares más extraños y difíciles, pero una cosa que me ha mantenido en todo esto es nuestra comunidad de Amigos. Estoy muy agradecida por todo el trabajo que mi facultad ha hecho y sigue haciendo y muy agradecida por ustedes, nuestras familias.
Nuestra ceremonia de graduación de octavo grado tendrá lugar el 16 de junio a las 3PM a través de la transmisión en vivo en nuestra página web y los canales del distrito 99/98. ¡Todos están invitados a verla! Para las familias de l@s estudiantes de 8º grado, les animo a que se reúnan como familia y vean virtualmente la ceremonia juntos. Los paquetes de graduación de l@s estudiantes serán entregados más tarde en la semana (más detalles serán enviados a las familias de 8º grado directamente). También quiero tomarme un momento para reconocer a nuestros increíbles estudiantes de 8º grado. Teníamos planeado un viaje culminante a la ciudad de Nueva York cuando las escuelas cerraron. Ese viaje fue cancelado y l@s estudiantes trabajaron juntos para determinar que el dinero que recaudaron para el viaje sería donado a instituciones de caridad. Estoy tan orgullosa de ellos e impresionada por su consideración. Si ven a un estudiante de octavo grado, por favor asegúrense de reconocerlo.
Quiero agradecer a todos los que apoyaron a los Amigos de Amigos (FOA) este año. Este año FOA financió excursiones a teatros, granjas, museos, parques históricos y naturales, pero lo más importante es que FOA nos permitió apoyar a los que más hemos sufrido durante el período de cierre de la escuela. Con esto en mente, los animo a unirse a FOA. Están buscando nuevos líderes y nuevos miembros! No pierdas su oportunidad de participar!
El miércoles 17 de junio es el último día de clases. No se enviarán boletas de calificaciones a casa este año, pero recibirán una reseña del año de l@s maestr@s y/o asesores de sus estudiantes y una actualización de su participación en el aprendizaje a distancia. Las listas de asignación de clases serán enviadas a casa durante el verano una vez que tengamos una visión más clara de cómo se verá la escuela el próximo año. Dicho esto, nos reservamos el derecho de hacer cambios en cualquier momento y según sea necesario debido a la crisis de salud en continua evolución. Además, aunque sé que muchos de ustedes están buscando desconectarse, por favor tomen un momento para ver las diferentes oportunidades de verano virtuales que tenemos disponibles este año y esperen una selección de libros en español para ser enviados directamente a sus casas!
Finalmente, para l@s estudiantes que están pasando de 5to grado a la escuela intermedia, tenemos una presentación para ustedes aquí: inglés o español. Es importante verla para que estén listos para septiembre y la vuelta a la escuela.
