It has been a great week! It is so nice to have many of our youngest students back in the building. The joy and happiness they bring is contagious. Despite the rain on Tuesday, things ran smoothly and safely and Thursday’s beautiful weather allowed us to spend a lot of time outside.

For our remote learners, we want to reiterate with you our expectations for remote learning. We know there are circumstances that can arise at any given moment, and we ask that you...
– Be there and on time
– Be prepared
– Use your headphones
– Be respectful
– Mute yourself when you are not talking and turn on your camera when you are!
– Let us know if you need help!

This past Wednesday evening, we had our monthly Amigos School Council meeting (ASC). One of the topics of conversation was our school values and how those are being taught in this new environment. Our values are Compassion, Perseverance and Integrity. I have shared with you previously how we are using these values to support us during COVID.

Compassion: We will prioritize the health and social-emotional well-being of our students, families, and staff.
Perseverance: We will not give up until we get it right and we won’t be afraid to try new things. We will start with an assumption that we all have good intentions.
Integrity: We believe that all students are inherently motivated, curious, and
capable of achieving at high levels and we will maintain high expectations and rigor in our learning environments. We will stay true to our language allocation model and school mission statement that focus on bilingualism and biliteracy for all students.

At the ASC we discussed how we can all use these values inside and outside of the school. Where do you see these values in your life? Here is how we are talking about them in different grade levels.

¡Ha sido una gran semana! Es tan agradable tener a algunos de nuestros estudiantes más jóvenes de vuelta en el edificio. La alegría y la felicidad que traen es contagiosa. A pesar de la lluvia del martes, las cosas funcionaron sin problemas y con seguridad y el hermoso clima del jueves nos permitió pasar mucho tiempo afuera.

Para nuestros estudiantes remotos, queremos reiterarles nuestras expectativas para el aprendizaje a distancia. Sabemos que hay circunstancias que pueden surgir en cualquier momento, y les pedimos que...

El pasado miércoles por la noche, tuvimos nuestra reunión mensual del Consejo Escolar de Amigos (ASC). Uno de los temas de conversación fue nuestros valores escolares y cómo se están enseñando en este nuevo ambiente. Nuestros valores son la Compasión, la Perseverancia y la Integridad. He compartido con ustedes anteriormente cómo estamos usando estos valores para apoyarnos durante COVID.

Compasión: Daremos prioridad a la salud y al bienestar socio-emocional de nuestros estudiantes, las familias y el personal.
Perseverancia: No nos daremos por vencidos hasta que lo hagamos bien y no tendremos miedo de intentar
cosas nuevas. Empezaremos con la suposición de que todos tenemos buenas intenciones.
Integridad: Creemos que todos l@s estudiantes están intrínsecamente motivados, son curiosos y capaces de alcanzar altos niveles y mantendremos altas expectativas y rigor en nuestros ambientes de aprendizaje. Nos mantendremos fieles a nuestro modelo de idiomas y a la misión de la escuela que se centra en el bilingüismo y la bi-alfabetización de tod@s l@s estudiantes.
