November 2020

Dear Cambridgeport Families,

I hope this newsletter finds you all doing well and coping with any challenges you may be facing as we continue to live through this pandemic. I want to remind you to continue to send your child to school daily with additional masks and layers of clothing. We continue to keep our windows open and get outside when the weather permits. In this newsletter, I have shared some important dates for you to save. Our teachers will begin giving each student a math and reading assessment during the month of November. These assessments will support teachers in deciding where to support students in their learning. This school year, we have held a few Zoom meetings and parent-teacher conferences to prepare us for coming back to school this Fall. As we move further into the Fall season, we want to offer parents a chance to meet with their classroom team to hear about our curriculum. Please join us on November 12th from 5:30 pm - 7:15 pm for our Curriculum Night. I will send out more details and links to classroom sessions via email a few days before our Curriculum Night.

Your Principal,
Genteen Jean-Michel

Assessment/Screener Dates

Our students will begin taking the CPSD formative assessments in reading and math. Students will work independently during the assessment time and should not have any assistance. We will use these assessments to support students with meeting their individual needs as we continue to plan in-person and remote learning. These screeners assess students’ mathematical and reading skills in critical areas. The data is used to support Tier 1 instruction and to identify students who may benefit from additional targeted support in identified areas.
