Library Books?
If you have some Haggerty School Library books at home, from last Spring, you can return them to School. There is a collection box inside the first lobby door. We appreciate your help in restoring our collection!

Parent to Parent Haggerty Group
(1st Monday of each month)
Parent to Parent Group - first Monday of every month. There is a lot of isolation and stress in parenting these days, and we can support each other! This may be a place for you to recognize you are handling this challenge, you are ARE resilient. And you have a village of support.
Connect with other parents/caregivers to give support to each other and receive strength from others. Share the highs and the lows of trying to balance a school schedule with your own. Share resources and ideas.
This is a very informal parent/caregiver to parent/caregiver meeting.
Next meeting is Monday, December 7th at 6pm. If we have enough caregivers, we can break out by grade levels so you can connect with families in the same grade. I will send the zoom link closer to that meeting date.
At our first meeting we heard some great advice from our fellow parents:
Enjoy the extra family time,
take this time to learn something new,
focus on the mental health of everyone,
get out those board games,
take time each day to have fun and play,
Bake!

Creating More Outdoor Places to Learn and Eat!
Thanks to Barrett Tree Service, we have some beautiful tree stumps on the CitySprouts side of the garden for our classrooms to enjoy a snack, lunch, or have a Science Lesson. Hoping the good weather continues so we can enjoy them for a while.
Thank you Barrett Tree Service and Mr. Barrett!

Math Coach Corner
By: Nili Pearlmutter, Haggerty Math Coach
I hope you have had a good start to this very unusual school year and that you are all safe and healthy. I am Nili Pearlmutter, the Haggerty Math Coach, and I have the joy and privilege of working across the school to support all our teachers and students as we explore the wonderful world of math. This letter is to update you about the math curriculum that CPS is using this year and point you to some math resources.
Curriculum: In order to teach in both the in-person and remote environment, this year CPS is using a curriculum developed by the San Francisco Unified School District. To learn more about this curriculum, please see this letter written by the math department.
Scope and Sequence: The CPS math department has laid out the general scope and sequence - the order and pace of the units - for the year. To see what your child will be learning, please go to the math department website. On the right hand side there are links to a page for each grade level. You can find the scope and sequence there, as well as more information. Keep in mind that teachers adjust the pacing to adapt to the needs of the students.
ST Math: The district received a grant to have this online math program available at the elementary level. This program leads students through a series of puzzles featuring “Jiji the penguin” in order to develop and deepen their understanding of grade level math content. Currently students in grades 2-5 are actively using it. Try a sample game here or see their website with resources for families for more information.
Haggerty School Website: You can find more resources on our Haggerty math website, including links to online math tools and resources for games and puzzles to engage your children in mathematical thinking.
Wishing you all the best,
Nili (AKA Ms. Pearlmutter)
