turkey handThe Tobin Turkey Trot is On!

Welcome to this year's virtual Turkey Trot. Although this fun-filled event will be happening remotely, the same goal remains: community building through physical activity. Please view the Google Slides to get the juicy details on how this year's Turkey Trot will go down.

Virtually Open from November 23-29
-- Please participate in this Turkey Trot at your leisure from Nov. 23-29.
-- You may participate that Monday - Wednesday before or after school as a family, or also Thursday - Sunday as a family.
-- This helps spread out participants to respect social distancing, as well as gives families the opportunity and time to participate throughout their busy schedule.

Either Around the Tobin Fields, or Your Neighborhood
Please select one of the following options for how you will participate:
-- Option #1 - Walk, jog, or run the course around the fields behind Tobin. Record how many laps you completed and fill out the Turkey Trot google form.
-- Option #2 - Walk, jog, or run a turkey trot course in your neighborhood. (Measure your course distance and how many laps you completed.) Record how many laps you completed and fill out this Turkey Trot google form.

As a way of sharing some community fun from this event, a slide show will be created with scenes from the week of the Turkey Trot! If you would like to upload a picture or video of you and your family participating in the Turkey Trot (and have an updated media release form), please do.

Finally - Please respect our community. Please wear a mask, keep a six foot distance, and wash your hands! Thank you!

A HUGE shout out and thank you to the Friends of Tobin team including: Kristin Michaud, Briney Burley, Sarah Cole, Erin Linthicum, Lisa Shen, Kerry Tanwar, Tory Tolles. This amazing team purchased the materials and assembled 50 sets of bead stairs for our JK and K students to have at home for their math work. The amount of work was tremendous and we are eternally grateful! Many hands made for lighter work here and will lead to happy kids and teachers! Thank you for your support and help!

CiM Weekly Wellness!
Movement/Physical Activity:
PBS SteveSongs: Sing and dance along with SteveSongs, a popular figure on PBS! These videos are free, fun and short, perfect for movement breaks during the day or to help get the wiggles out between activities at home! Best for younger children.
Food, Nutrition & Home Gardening:
Interview an Elder: Is there a food that reminds you of a memory from when you were younger? Can you think of recipes or flavors that have been passed down in your family for generations? In this activity from Edible Schoolyard, kids (or families) will interview an elder about a favorite recipe of theirs and why that recipe is meaningful to them. This is a wonderful way to help stay connected during a Holiday season where we may not be seeing everyone we're used to!
Recipe of the Week: Enjoy this Spaghetti Squash with Kale & Chickpeas for a meatless dish everyone will love! I recommend adding your favorite marinara or pasta sauce, which is the way my family likes this dish best.
Mental & Emotional Wellness:
Parenting During A Pandemic (Tips to Keep the Calm at Home): Fear, uncertainty, and being holed up at home more to slow the spread of COVID-19 can make it tough for families to keep a sense of calm. But it's important to help children feel safe, keep healthy routines, manage their emotions and behavior and build resilience. Here are some tips from the American Academy (AAP) to help your family get through the stress of the pandemic.
