7th and 8th Grade Families: ‘Whiteboards’ Available for Pick Up

-- The Math team would like all students to be able to have whiteboards by Dec. 4th so they can start using them in their classes. Teachers have told your students about the whiteboards in classes. Note: If you came to pick up STEM or Literacy block materials, you should have received these items then.
-- You can either pick a creative whiteboard and a dry erase marker at the front entrance of the school (see the Green bin in the front left corner if you’re facing the school) anytime Monday-Friday 8-1PM, or you can choose to get your own materials.
-- If you are unable to pick up items at the school, please contact Family Liaison Julia Ho at [email protected] or 857.244.0730.

First Quarter Progress Reports

-- The first quarter closed on Friday 11/20
-- Progress reports will be available to view in Aspen on Tuesday, Dec 1st (you will get an email notification when they are ready to view)
-- Reports will be mailed home to families who do not have an email address in Aspen.
-- Note: We have received some questions regarding parent-teacher conferences. Please note that this fall, we will not be doing parent-teacher conferences in the same way as we have in the past. Instead, Listening Conferences will be the main way teachers will be connecting with families. We will be sending more information about this in our next newsletter.

Family Partnership Update:
Families of RAUC (FRAUC)

thank youAt the last FRAUC meeting, families brainstormed ways to help support the RAUC community during this unprecedented time. After hearing about a school need (getting whiteboards for 7th and 8th grade students), FRAUC members were able to come up with a creative solution, and thanks to their efforts, we now have materials for creative whiteboards and dry erase markers for all students!

Club Update: Model UN

globe flagsOn Saturday, our Model UN club held a virtual "Crisis". The event was organized and carried out by Model UN students at Tufts University, and the topic was the colonization of the moon. Students pretended the year was 2095 and many countries from the United Nations had colonies on the moon. The crisis occurred when the moon lost communication with the Earth. Our RAUC students (each representing a different country) had to figure out how to work together to create a solution!

Tech Corner

Tip: It's a good idea to shut your Chromebook all the way down at least once a week. Closing the laptop just puts it to sleep, but does not turn it off. To turn it all the way off, click the login icon in the lower right and choose the Power symbol. Thanksgiving Break is a good time for your student to give their computer, and themselves, a rest! Remember that you can see this tip, and more, in this Tech Tips for Chromebooks slide show.

If your Chromebook is broken in any way, take it to the Mobile Help Desk! The Help Desk is open Mon.-Fri. 8AM-4PM, and Sat. 8AM-2PM. They're located at CRLS, Felton St side. Go to the garage door closest to Cambridge St. (Carpentry Shop). If those times don't work, email the Help Desk.

Have a question or suggestion for a future Tech Corner? Email Sam Musher, Library Tech Teacher.

Social/Emotional Well-Being
Tip of the Week

Anticipate and preview experiences. Talk aloud about what a particular experience might be like to build your child’s ability to recognize their own feelings and develop their own methods to prepare for a situation.

If you have any questions or concerns about how your student is doing, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Guidance Counselor Shanika Boadu (email; 617.329.1002).
