Shift to remote learning--does the district decision to shift to remote learning impact RAUC students?

  • The shift to remote learning will not affect the current schedule in any way! Upper school students are already remote.
  • The students who are accessing some in-person learning will be notified separately by the teachers in their program.

Sharing Condolences

If you and your student want to send a card or letter to share your condolences to the Vuksan family, you can mail it to the school at 70 Rindge Ave. or drop it off in a labelled box outside the front entrance of the school (on the left hand side), and we will make sure it gets to them.

Family Partnership Update: Math Night Update

Math NightLast Wednesday, our Math specialists shared more about what math looks like during remote learning at our monthly community meeting. Some points they covered:

  • The district curriculum during remote learning
  • The math practice standards and how they show up in remote learning
  • Various online platforms available to students.

Families shared that it was helpful to see what kinds of tools their students were using.  They also appreciated the enthusiasm and clear commitment from RAUC math educators to engage their students in meaningful ways.

Here are some links to the recording of the meeting & some resources:

Our next monthly community meeting on Wednesday, January 6, 2020. Please mark your calendars! Have a suggestion or idea for a future community meeting? Please email Julia Ho, Family Liaison: [email protected].

CSEd Week 2020Tech Corner

Computer Science Education Week is Dec. 7-13, and this year's theme is #CSforSocialJustice! Your scholar will dip their toe into CS in class this week, but there's much more to explore on the EdTech Department CS website. We're also launching our first CS EdWeek Student Contest! Design an app, create a PSA to respond to a CS social justice issue, create a Scratch game -- there are many ways to enter. All entries are due by Dec. 31. If your scholar has questions or just wants to show off their project, email or Hangout Ms. Musher.

If your Chromebook is broken in any way, take it to the Mobile Help Desk! The Help Desk is open Mon.-Fri. 8am-4pm, and Sat. 10am-2pm. They're located at CRLS, Felton St side. Go to the garage door closest to Cambridge St. (Carpentry Shop). If those times don't work, email [email protected].

Have a question or suggestion for a future Tech Corner? Email Sam Musher, Library Tech Teacher: [email protected].

Social/Emotional Well-being--Tip of the Week

As things happen in the world around you—whether it be a relatively insignificant moment at a sports game or something that makes national headlines—engage your child in conversations that help them identify problems and design solutions. When kids work through the problem-solving process with you, they grow their ability to think critically on their own.
