1000 Hours OutsideNature Corner

By: Kathleen Fitzgerald

Take the 1000 Hours Outside challenge! Remote learning and the COVID pandemic have created a perfect storm for screen usage - online school and play means my kiddo easily spends 7+ hours a day staring at some sort of device.
Recently I discovered a site that helps keep our family accountable when it comes to committing to outside time and all the benefits that come with it: 1000hoursoutside.com offers free downloadable tracker sheets, activity ideas, and more. Every walk down the street, trip to the park, or quick jaunt out to the yard really adds up!

For Haggerty Parents and Caregivers: Helping Your Child with Math Workshops
We are holding workshops for parents and caregivers to learn more about supporting your child in math at home. At these sessions we share strategies for supporting your child when they are stuck as well as ideas for engaging in fun math activities. There is also plenty of time to ask questions!
We have held one for families of JK-1 graders and another for families of students in grades 2 & 3. You can find videos of the sessions as well as links to the slides on the Haggerty Math Website.

If you are the parent or caregiver of a 4th or 5th grader, save the evening of February 9 from 6:30-7:30PM. (Please note the time change from the original.)
Mathily Yours, Nili (AKA Ms. Pearlmutter)
