Updates from Principal Smith

Good Evening CRLS Community,

Last week community members expressed concerns about recent student social media posts, behavior in a live streamed forum, and the school administration’s knowledge and response to these events. CRLS is committed to the academic and social growth of our scholars. When members of our school cause hurt with their actions and/ or words, we develop and offer support for impacted community members. We also work on accountability steps to repair the hurt caused and restore relationships whenever possible. A key component of this work is the Incident Reporting process.

The Incident Reporting process was revised in the 2018-19 school year. The linked document Incident Reporting Process- CRLS 2018-Present outlines the elements and what to expect when a student makes a report. When a report is made, school personnel follow up on the matter. Each situation is unique and an appropriate response will be developed that best addresses the issues that have occurred. In resolving matters, the school will not share discipline or restorative outcomes regarding individual students or staff.

Students and community members can access the CRLS Incident Reporting Form to report an incident. The Deans of Students have shared this form and they continue to utilize it in their efforts to support students in addressing concerns. Students can make a report using this form and they can also speak with any adult in the school community that they feel comfortable talking with about their situation. Some staff members may be especially prepared to help, but most importantly we want students to communicate their concerns so we can work to maintain student well being and learning.

Both the Reporting Process and Reporting Form can be found on the CRLS webpage by accessing the links embedded in the About CRLS section on the Students and Families webpage. Please reach out to your Learning Community if you have questions regarding the Reporting Process or Form or any of the other matters in this week’s DYK.

Sincerely,
Principal Smith

Hello Seniors!

Graduation!
We are working hard to develop plans to celebrate our seniors and all they have accomplished! The current public health crisis has made planning complicated and, sadly, we will not be able to come together for a large traditional graduation ceremony this Spring. But this will not stop us from finding a safe way to celebrate our seniors! We are currently developing plans for outdoor graduation ceremonies that meet public health safety guidelines. Stay tuned for more details!
