Letter to Caregivers

Dear CSUS Parents and Caregivers,

We hope that you had a pleasant extended holiday weekend.

Please see below for important updates, dates, and reminders for the coming week at Cambridge Street.

Full-Time In-Person Learning This Spring
CSUS is expected to begin offering full-time, five day a week in-person learning to scholars beginning Wednesday, April 28. You should have received an email from CSUS on Friday confirming your scholar’s learning mode and providing families transitioning to in-person learning with the required paperwork and information.

We are working hard to adapt a schedule that will accommodate an increase in in-person learners and also meet the needs of scholars continuing to learn remotely through the end of the school year. We will share updates and expectations with scholars and families as they are available in the coming weeks. If you have questions about the April 28 transition please contact Ms. Robinson or Mr. Adams. You can also call the CSUS Main Office at 617.349.3050.

April World Autism Month
The fourteenth annual World Autism Awareness Day was Friday, April 2, 2021. Next year CSUS hopes to reinstate our pre-pandemic tradition of participating in Light It Up Blue at Cambridge City Hall in recognition, love, and support of people with autism in our Cambridge Street Community.

Many School Bus Routes Will Change On April 5
To ensure that no vehicle becomes overcrowded as more students return for in-person learning, we are rerouting many of our general education school buses. The bulleted information below does not apply to families of scholars receiving door-to-door transportation.

  • On April 3rd or 4th, all bus riders should check the online CPS Bus Finder to confirm your bus information.
  • Students continuing in-person may have a different bus, bus stop or pick-up time on April 5 than they had the week before.
  • Newly in-person students returning on April 28 will be able to look up their bus stop starting on April 3.
  • Additional information and the full CPS announcement regarding bus changes is available here.

April 14 - Grades close for Quarter 3
Assignments impacting scholars’ Quarter 3 grades must be submitted by April 14 in order to be factored into their Quarter 3 grade.

April 19-23 is April Break; no school for Scholars

April 26 - Staff PD Day to prepare for the return to full day in-person on April 28
No School for scholars on April 26

Need Tech Support?
For assistance with a CPS Chromebook or wifi/connectivity issues, contact the Helpdesk.

As always, thank you for entrusting Cambridge Street with your scholar’s learning. We understand that you have choices regarding your child’s education, and we appreciate you choosing CSUS.

Peace,
Manuel and Christen

Just Eats Grocery Boxes

Many of our families are missing our monthly school-based School Markets and so are we!! To help us out, our partners at Food For Free are offering food boxes for families at 4 of the school Market sites. We are offering these free boxes to our free lunch families and they will be available at lunch pick-up sites twice a month. We are trying to figure out our numbers for distribution, so we NEED FAMILIES TO SIGN UP! Sign up here >>

The boxes have fruits and veggies, as well as a grain (such as rice) and a protein (such as beans). They are heavy (approximately 30 pounds a piece) so you will need a car or a cart to bring them home. You can sign-up for the site closest to your house!

Note: These boxes are also distributed at Walden Square, Newtowne Court, Roosevelt Towers and 808-812 Memorial Drive. Please contact your Residential Service Provider if you would like to pick-up there.
