Letter to Caregivers
Dear CSUS Parents and Caregivers,
Please see below for important updates for our families of in-person and remote scholars.
COVID vaccine updates
Following yesterday's announcement by the CDC about changes in mask protocols we are receiving questions about possible changes to the COVID protocols that CPS has in place. Over the next few days guidance from the state, the Facilities and Safety working group, and Cambridge Public Health will inform any possible changes to the CPS safety protocols. For now there are no changes to any of the existing CPS safety protocols. We will share any forthcoming updates with the CSUS community as we receive them. Please note the following information regarding vaccination sites in and around Cambridge:
- The Cambridge Health Alliance is offering access to vaccine clinics to get your friends and family members, including your children ages 12-17, vaccinated with the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine beginning May 13. Please see the CHA Website for information on vaccine clinic sites and additional information on vaccination for children ages 12-17.
Welcome Ms. Nelson and congratulations Ms. Henderson!
CSUS is excited to announce two important updates for our English Language Arts team. On Friday we welcomed Miranda Nelson to CSUS; Miranda joined the Grade 7 team as our new ELA teacher for the remainder of the year, while Connie Henderson will assume the role of our building-wide Literacy Coach/Interventionist. We are fortunate to continue teaching and learning under the guidance of Laura Smith, our former building Literacy Coach, in her new role as District Literacy Coach for Grades 6-8.
Ms. Nelson will share an introductory letter with Grade 7 families next week. Welcome, Ms Nelson, and congrats Ms. Henderson!
MCAS
Both our in-person and remote learners will be scheduled to participate in MCAS testing during the last week of May and first week of June. We will share dates with caregivers and scholars as soon as they are finalized.
In-Person Learning Updates:
- Water bottles: For safety reasons, our in-classroom water fountains are not in use this year. Scholars should bring a water bottle from home; they will be permitted to fill/refill their water bottles from filtered water stations as needed throughout the day. If your scholar needs a water bottle to use at school, contact Ms. Sohn or Mr. Adams.
- Covid testing: If you have not already done so, we encourage families to complete the COVID-19 Consent to test Form so that their scholar can have access to free, confidential weekly COVID surveillance testing. Testing scholars and staff each week helps keep our community safe and healthy!
As always, thank you for entrusting Cambridge Street with your scholar’s learning. We understand that you have choices regarding your child’s education, and we appreciate you choosing CSUS.
Peace,
Manuel and Christen
