We Need Your Help to Make Our Grade 5 Moving On Ceremony a Success!
TOBIN OUTDOOR MAIN PLAYGROUND CLOSED 12-1:30PM ON 6/9 FOR A SPECIAL SCHOOL EVENT!
On Wednesday 6/9, we will be celebrating our graduating fifth grade students outside from 12-1:30PM. For this event we will be using the outdoor campus, including the main playground area. If you are picking up your child at 11:55AM on Wednesday 6/9, please do not plan on utilizing the main playground and try your best to exit the outdoor campus as quickly as possible. We feel fortunate that we are able to have an in-person graduation for these students and we want to ensure that the Grade 5 Families have adequate space for this special “Final Stroll Around Tobin.”
Here's a map for the event that will help you visualize the area we will be using.
THANKS for your cooperation!
Tobin Students Win in a Citywide Math Contest
Students from 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade at Tobin participated in a city-wide math contest, run by The Cambridge Math Circle as part of its partnership with elementary schools in Cambridge. In the team competition, they solved 5 different types of problems, including logic problems, mystery grids, colorful loops, jigsaw squares, and presented their solutions to an adult. They also played a game called Sprouts against their teachers, trying to beat them for extra points! Congratulations to the Tobin winners! For those interested in learning this game, a description is below.*

* The 2-player game of Sprouts is easy to learn, but requires thinking to win! Start with a few dots on a piece of paper, for instance 4 dots. At each turn, one player connects two dots with a line (it doesn't have to be a straight line), and puts a dot in the middle of the line they just drew. A player can connect a dot to itself and put a new dot in the middle of the line. Important: each dot can have no more than 3 lines coming out of it, and lines cannot cross! The last person to play an allowed move wins!
