Famous Author writes to fourth grade!
Fourth grade student's in Ms. Moloney's classroom wrote letters, diary entries, and drew maps to send to Jerdine Nolen, author of Eliza's Freedom Road. A few months later she wrote back to the classroom and gave us answers to our questions.
Students said: "I feel proud that Jerdine Nolen wrote back to me. It’s weird but wonderful. She wrote to just the kids who wrote her letters. Next time you read a book, send the author a note and she might reply back to you! (written by Joshua, Lucy, Francesca, Evan and Sara)

Coach's Corner:
Math by Nili Pearlmutter
At Haggerty, one way we develop good number sense is by estimating - and then finding out how accurate our estimate is. This year, many classes have tried “Esti-Mysteries” made by Steve Wyborney. This is a fun routine where we estimate how many of something there are in a container, and then get clues, one at a time. By the end, there are only a few possibilities left! Here is an example - try it at home! Show your child this picture and then read and discuss the clues one at a time.
The final answer is ....78!
Some students have made their own Esti-Mysteries!
Clue #1 it is an odd number
Clue #2 it does not include the digit 1 or 2
Clue #3 it is between 70 and 40
(The answer is 53)
You can try making your own at home, too!
Mathily Yours, Ms. Pearlmutter
