Please return your CPS laptops & chargers!

ComputerIf you did not return your school chromebook to the school last year yet, please bring your school chromebook and charger with you and give it to your teacher! No students will be taking laptops home until we have made sure all computers work and we have enough. At this point we’re missing many and won’t have a chromebook for all of our kiddos! Thanks for your support in returning those chromebooks and chargers!

COVID-19 Student Safety &
Testing Forms

We have started pool COVID-19 testing for students. These are quick, painless nasal swabs. Our school is safer when most or all of our students participate in pool testing.

We are asking all families who have not, to please fill out the COVID-19 testing form. You can fill out at the CPS Family Portal or by filling out this PDF and returning it with your student.

If you have any questions or hesitations, please contact our school nurse Joanne Sanz or Lissa Galluccio or call the school directly and ask for one of them (617.349.6555).

Arrival Notes

As a reminder about dropping off your children in the morning, please do not stop in the bus lane in front of school. The bus lane is directly in front of school, before the crosswalk. If you need to do a live drop off (meaning you aren't coming inside, please pull past our crossing guard. If you would like to walk your child into school, please find a parking space.

Also please remember to use the crosswalks. It truly helps to keep everyone safe!

If you are dropping your children at school, please come as close to 7:40AM as possible, and continue drop them off in the playground (except Room 102, which can use their door).

Caregiver Groups

School Advisory Council (SAC)
A school council is a representative school based committee composed of the principal, parents, teachers, and community members. School councils are required to be established by each school pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 71, Section 59C.

With teachers, parents and community members working together, the school council supports school-based planning and goal setting for school improvement.

The primary responsibility of the school council is to advise and assist the Principal with activities associated with the School Improvement Plan (SIP) and to help develop any projects arising out of the SIP that the Principal identifies as beneficial to the successful functioning and development of the school.

The school council meets each month during the academic year. As mandated by the MA Open Meeting Law, school council meetings are open to the public who are invited to attend. The council does not address any issues regarding individual students. Any public address regarding individual students is not appropriate.

Meetings: School Council meetings are scheduled once a month. Exact meeting times are not yet determined.

Caregiver Representatives:
We need some new ones so please look out for that soon!

Questions? Ask Lissa via email.

Parent/Teacher Organization (PTO)
The Haggerty PTO is a group of parent and teacher volunteers working together to build community, to support our teachers and students, and to help Friends of Haggerty raise funds for the benefit of our entire school. Some of the events we help organize each year include two Family Movie Nights, Family STEAM Night (May), the Talent Show (March), and a Staff Appreciation Luncheon (June).

The PTO is open to everyone! We’re always looking for new ideas for events, and people willing to contribute in ways both big and small. Our projects provide volunteer opportunities for all types of schedules and skills.

Interested? Please look out for another notice of next meeting on Zoom, or please email Lissa or Carroll Magill.

Friends of Haggerty (FOH)
Friends of Haggerty is looking for a TREASURER! If you have some book keeping/accounting skills, we'd LOVE your help!

What is “Friends of Haggerty"? Friends of Haggerty School, Inc. is the name of a private non-profit corporation formed by Haggerty parents in November 2005. It is run by a volunteer board made up of parents and teachers. Their mission is to raise funds to support initiatives that have been identified by the Haggerty community as enriching and valuable to the school.

What does the “Friends of Haggerty” fund? “Friends of Haggerty” funds are used principally for enrichment and community building programs and activities that would not otherwise be funded by the annual school budget. This includes classroom field trips and enrichment, school visits from authors and artists, additional books for the Library, and support for community events. Look for the “Friends of Haggerty” logo in the “Haggerty Holler” to learn about all the exciting enrichment activities supported with your generous donations. Funds are not used to pay for school operating costs, routine supplies, utilities, building and equipment maintenance or staff salaries.

To learn more about the Friends of Haggerty please contact the Chair, Suzanne Bouffard, or you can ask Lissa Galluccio, the Family Liaison at 617.349.6555 x208.
