Lantern-Making Fun!
On Sunday, December 5th we had a family lantern-making event at the Haggerty School Playground. We decorated plastic Mason Jars with colored tissue paper and used electric tea lights to provide the glow. We had a wonderful turnout on a beautiful December afternoon. Thanks to Friends of Haggerty for purchasing the materials! Also thanks to those caregivers who helped to organize - Carroll Magill, Katie O'Connell, Colette Dewan, and Hester Breen. We'll keep thinking of ways to gather in community! Got any ideas please let me know.
Poetry Slam in 4th Grade
The fourth grade recently put on a poetry slam showcase! Each student wrote a poem and created a digital presentation to accompany their presentation. The poems varied from funny to serious to reflective. They presented with pride and clarity. Well done fourth grade students, and our fourth grade staff - Ms. Burks, Ms. Yeh, Ms. Guerrero, and Ms. Miner!

It's Winter Clothing Time!
The weather is feeling more and more like winter. Please remember to dress your children for cold weather. We will be going outside for snack/lunch on dry days, as well as recess. It's really helpful for the children to have enough clothing. Thanks for your help!
Friends of Haggerty - Winter Appeal UPDATE
Please help Friends of Haggerty meet our goal!
So far, our winter appeal has met only 20% of our fundraising goal for student enrichment. Can you help us get to 100%? Any amount helps us make sure that every Haggerty student can participate in field trips, artist and author visits, and more. The preferred method for donating is through Paypal, but you can also drop off a check or cash in the main office.
If you want to know more about what we fund and stay up to date with student enrichment activities, follow us on Facebook.

Water Bottle Classroom Initiative
for 1st and 3rd Graders
The Cambridge Healthy Smiles program completed its annual Water Bottle Classroom Initiative this month. Students in Grades 1 and 3 received a personal water bottle to use at school to promote oral health. The program visits classrooms to teach an oral health lesson about the benefits of drinking water and how to take care of their teeth during their school day. Parents of 1st and 3rd graders are given an opportunity to ask questions they may have about their family’s dental health filling out this survey.
