Under gardener Heather's gentle guidance, the Children's House 3 students began to learn about red wiggler worms and their behaviors and needs in a hands-on garden science lesson. Gardener Heather says, "We observed the worm bin, and students shared what they noticed about the worms and their habitat. Students helped create rules to handle our worms kindly and gently before each getting their own worm in the dirt to observe. Students looked at worms from different angles, touched and held worms as they felt comfortable, and shared their observations with other students and teachers in the classroom."

Gingerbread Fun!
In Neil's class, students made gingerbread from a World War II recipe. Students all pitched in to help with the baking. They used math and science skills and topped it all off to create a delicious piece of art!
In Ms. Jordan's children's house class, some of the parents came in to help the younger students make gingerbread houses out of milk cartons. Students had to use their most excellent concentration to get the goodies to stick to the frosting. What an amazing way to end the year 2021!

There will be reading to complete before each session, and families are strongly encouraged to make a commitment to attend as many sessions as possible.
