Tobin Snapshots
Inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s ideas, the Children's House 3 students discussed what would make our world a peaceful, happy and safe place for everybody.
The following are the students' responses:
We can help people by giving them health and love. -Olivia
We can help the world by helping others in need. -Samira
My Dad makes sure all people are safe. -Beau
Making sure everything is clean on Earth. -Anya
Everybody needs a home. -Momoka
We can bring food to people. -Eleanor
We can give toys to friends. -Maramawit
The posters that were created by all JK and K students are on display in the CH 3 hallway - please come and see!!

Last week, Room 6 conducted an experiment with Gardener Heather. The children learned about how the celery plant drinks water and then made hypotheses about what would happen to the plant if different color water was given to the plants. Some children predicted that the celery would change colors or mix colors. They wrote and drew these predictions in their science journals. The next day, the children were surprised to see that the leaves had already started to change for some colors!

Gardener Heather worked with Room 6 to harvest herbs from the Tobin Garden. We created a work for the children to rip up the herbs with their fingers and set them out to dry in the Practical Life Area. After we collected our ripped up herbs, we crushed the herbs with a mortar and pestle. Lastly, we mixed our crushed herbs with salt to create a homemade Herb Salt. Some friends shared they put it on their shrimp and pasta! Bon appetit!

Free STEM Enrichment Program
Our names are Yuen Ler Chow and Elena Su, and we are current freshmen at Harvard and MIT. We are the co-founders of the Greater Boston STEM Program (gbSTEM), an enrichment program that delivers free introductory computer science, math, and engineering courses to elementary and middle school students in the Greater Boston area. Since March 2020, our team of dedicated high school volunteers have brought free lessons to over 600 Massachusetts youth. Classes will be held through Zoom, and we pride ourselves in our innovative curriculum and collaboration-based learning model.
We are delighted to announce that we will be offering a spring semester of gbSTEM to Tobin Montessori students, which will run from March 14th to December 12th, 2022!
The registration deadline is March 6th, 2022.
Information about our program and the registration form can be found at our website: https://gbstem.org
If you have any questions, please contact [email protected]. We are so excited to work with your family!
