Message from Christen Sohn
Good afternoon CSUS Parents and Caregivers,
This month’s SCHOLAR attribute is Honor. At Thursday’s Honor assembly, scholars will share their poetry, dance, and other performances in honor of Black History Month. We will share pictures and our program in next week’s email.
Please see below for other important dates and updates from CSUS, including Scholar Led Conferences, and February Break COVID testing. All scholars will receive take-home COVID tests this Thursday to use before returning from February Break.
February 7-18: Scholar Led Conferences
CSUS is holding Scholar Led Conferences February 7-18. Scholar Led Conferences are an opportunity for your scholar to showcase their schoolwork from Semester 1 and discuss progress on their educational goals with you. Advisors will be in touch soon to schedule your child’s scholar led conference.
February 17: Joint meeting School Site Council/Equity Team (6:30-7:30PM)
Join us virtually next Thursday and get involved in the following initiatives...
- School Site Council will plan relevant programming for families, including continuing the CSUS Diversity Dialogues series to engage our community in conversations about race and equity.
- The CSUS Equity Team will launch an Equity Audit with the goal of reviewing and examining CSUS’ existing policies, procedures, and practices to learn more about various aspects of equity at Cambridge Street and identify systemic barriers to equity.
We will begin the virtual meeting jointly and then move to breakout groups for further discussion and planning. If you are interested in joining our School Site Council or Equity Team and are unable to attend this meeting, please email [email protected] or [email protected] and let us know! We are eager to work with you at a time that works for your schedule.

COVID Updates
Last week from 2/7-2/11 we had 1 positive COVID case reported to us by caregivers.
As a reminder, CPS will give out a take home rapid test to every student and staff member this week. CSUS Scholars will receive their rapid tests to take home Thursday afternoon. It is expected that the test will be taken on Sunday, February 27, the day before school reopens.
If your child tests positive, please notify the school. We want to emphasize that reporting a positive test result will be critical in continuing to keep our schools safe. More information >>
Following the February Break, we will begin implementing a new testing option that will allow our students and staff the opportunity to rapid test at home weekly. This means all students and staff will now have the option to participate in two COVID tests each week: one at school and once at home.
- ANY student can participate in the new at-home rapid testing program regardless of vaccination status.
- THE TESTING PROGRAM IS VOLUNTARY. Families must opt-in through the CPS Family Portal. Visit Family Portal >>
Thank you for entrusting us with your scholar’s learning. We understand that you have choices regarding your child’s education, and appreciate you choosing CSUS. Your partnership and trust are a huge part of what makes CSUS spell SUCCESS!
Have a wonderful rest of the week!
Christen
