Celebrating the Lunar New Year
Jenny Wang visited Children's House 3 to tell the students about the Lunar New Year, an important and festive holiday. She shared many interesting cultural items, and children were fascinated by her story and beautiful objects. Jenny is the mother of Annabelle, the Kindergarten student in our classroom. Jenny started the tradition of sharing stories about the Lunar New Year many years ago, when Annabelle's older brother Daniel was our Montessori student. We hope that Jenny will continue the wonderful tradition of celebrating the Lunar New Year with us even after Annabelle's graduation from the Children's House!
VLUS Triad White Caregivers Working Toward Anti-Racism
Hello G&P, Haggerty, Tobin, and VLUS Families,
Please join a monthly affinity group for VLUS Triad White Caregivers Working Toward Anti-Racism. The affinity group will read and discuss various texts throughout the year in order to address our own unconscious biases and to take an active role in fighting white supremacy in our schools, communities, and ourselves. There will be reading (or listening) to complete before each session, and families are strongly encouraged to make a commitment to attend as many sessions as possible.
Next Meeting: Thursday, March 3rd, 6:45-8PM

February Break COVID Testing
 Earlier this week, we announced that CPS will provide all staff and students a rapid self-test kit for use during February break.
We are writing with additional news. Following the February Break, we will begin implementing a new testing option that will allow our students and staff the opportunity to rapid test at home weekly. This means all students and staff will now have the option to participate in two COVID tests each week: one at school and once at home.
HIGHLIGHTS OF AT-HOME RAPID TESTING PLAN:
- ANY student can participate in the new at-home rapid testing program regardless of vaccination status.
- THE TESTING PROGRAM IS VOLUNTARY. Families must opt-in through the CPS Family Portal. Visit family portal >>
- Participating students will receive a kit every 2 weeks; each kit will contain 2 tests and instructions for using the self-test.
- This option will begin the week of February 28. Please note that the date may change depending on supply and the delivery schedule.
If you would like your child to receive a kit the week of the 28th, the opt-in form must be completed by Friday, February 18.
