Community Iftar
Mayor Siddiqui’s Office, Cambridge Public Schools’ Muslim Affinity Committee, the City’s Employees’ Diversity Committee, and the Islamic Society of Boston will be hosting a community iftar on Wednesday, April 13th at 6PM. The event will take place at the Cambridge Street Upper School located at 850 Cambridge Street.
The iftar is the evening meal where Muslims break their fast after sunset during the Holy month of Ramadan. Stop by for a community meal, mingling, and learn more about this custom from guest speakers and Cambridge Public School students. In addition, there will be a prayer area for the (Magrib) evening prayer. This event is free, and all are welcome.
Multilingual Connections
Multilingual Connections is a new monthly column in our Tobin Weekly, courtesy of our ESL teacher, Beth Benedikt. The column will feature a different article each month devoted to topics of interest for families of our multilingual learners.
This month's article is about supporting children's native language.

Please feel free to contact Beth, if you have any suggestions or ideas for other language topics for our column.

In Children's House 3, we continue to implement the students' favorite The Leader of the Day program. On a particular day a student, as the Leader of the Day, has such responsibilities as ringing the bell and making the announcements, being the line leader, assisting the teachers, and being responsible for the Show and Tell presentation. For the Show and Tell, the students choose a fun and educational object that they would be happy to share with the entire class.
Photos:
* Elin is presenting her Mom’s beautiful wedding photo and a picture of her parents.
* Remi's Show and Tell is a photo book about his family' s vacation.
* Anya used a variety of recycling materials to design an elevator.

Tobin Snapshots
Some of our students had such fun at an ice skating playdate recently! Everyone gave it their all, and we are so grateful for Ms. Brittany and Ms. Jess coming along with their families too!
Tobin Snapshots
On March 16, Pratyush Venkatakrishnan visited his old classrooms at Tobin. He posed for photographs in Miss Megan's classroom. In Neil's classroom, students recited a poem about a cactus that he wrote when he was in 2nd grade! He then dazzled lower elementary students by demonstrating how to graph sloped lines with coordinates and solving an extremely long division problem. Pratyush is now a senior at CRLS, where he is a finalist for the National Merit Scholarship. We love when students visit the people from their past, and we love it even more when they are succeeding in their present. Next? The future!

VLUS Triad White Caregivers Working Toward Anti-Racism
Hello G&P, Haggerty, Tobin, and VLUS Families,
Please join a monthly affinity group for VLUS Triad White Caregivers Working Toward Anti-Racism. The affinity group will read and discuss various texts throughout the year in order to address our own unconscious biases and to take an active role in fighting white supremacy in our schools, communities, and ourselves. There will be reading to complete before each session, and families are strongly encouraged to make a commitment to attend as many sessions as possible.
VLUS Triad White Caregivers Working Toward Anti-Racism
Date: Thursday, April 7, 2022, 6:45-8PM

Check the Lost & Found
Help us reunite lost items with their owners. You can help by labeling all of your children’s items. This includes water bottles, sweatshirts, jackets, gloves, and anything that can be separated from your child. Please look at the pictures and list below – if you see any clothing items that look familiar, send the family liaison an email with your child’s name and a description of the item, and Zakkiyya will try to get the two back together again.
Ways to Get Involved at Tobin
There are many ways for families to get involved at Tobin! Getting involved as a Room Parent or on one of the committees is a great way to meet new families and support the school.
