Second Graders Tapping Maple Trees!
The sap is running! 2nd graders tapped four sugar maple trees at Fresh Pond and will continue to collect sap for as long as it flows. Warmer days and nights that freeze are perfect weather conditions to keep the sap moving. Small groups of students from both classes walk to Fresh Pond, collect the sap from the hanging buckets and using a wagon bring the sap back to school. The sap is then boiled to cause the water to evaporate leaving sweet maple syrup. It takes 40 gallons of sap to make 1 gallon of syrup.
Friends of Haggerty
Did you know there are two easy ways you can help our school’s enrichment program while helping your family?
FoH is partnering with ClothesBin. When you donate your used clothing, shoes, and other textiles, our school gets a percentage of the profits they make from recycling the materials. The bin by the Lawn St. entrance accepts a wide range of textiles.
We also partner with Amazon Smile. When you sign up (for free), every Amazon purchase you make benefits our school.

STEAM Night is Coming! We Need Your Help!
Wednesday, May 11 | 5:30-7:30PM
Calling all Families! STEAM night is coming.
This is a family night where Haggerty celebrates Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics with engaging activities for all ages!
We are looking for some caregivers who could volunteer to help organize this fun event. If you are interested, please email Lissa.
MCAS SCHEDULE
MCAS Testing for Grades 3-5 begins in April.
Here is the schedule:
Shift to Mask-Optional in School
As you know, starting Monday March 14th masks were optional at Haggerty. We recognize people have different feelings about this shift. In preparation for this, all classrooms and some specialist teachers reflected with students.
Our goal was to ensure our community was prepared to make everyone feel welcomed whatever their mask wearing choice was.
A reminder that masks remain mandatory on visits to the nurse’s office.
Please reach out if you have any questions.
Character Day is April 1st!
Children are invited to dress up as a favorite book character. Please don't buy anything to make a costume, you can use whatever you have at home. We will also be doing some activities in art class. We will celebrate reading and share about our favorite books!
We will also have a fun parade around school grounds!
Please reach out if you have questions. You can contact your child’s teacher or Lissa.
