Recess is always a fun time. The Children's House 3 students enjoy playing together and using their imagination to be creative. At recess, the students practice how to implement their problem solving skills and to strengthen their leadership and negotiation skills. Everybody loves recess!

Tobin School Council Meeting Update
Due to the scheduling of the CPS iReady workshop (details below), we will not be having our School Advisory Council meeting on Wednesday 3/30. The next School Advisory Council meeting will be on Wednesday 4/27 at 6PM.
Grades 3-8: iReady Reports & Family Workshop
Students’ iReady Diagnostic reports for reading and math for 3rd through 8th graders were mailed home last week. i-Ready provides results that help teachers identify your child’s strengths and determine next steps for instruction, alongside other data. It is just one of many pieces of information educators use to support student learning.
- To support parents’ understanding of these reports, a virtual session for families will be offered on Wednesday, March 30 from 7-7:45PM. Please use the following link to register: https://secure1.cpsd.us/registration/.

Our 5th grade students got a visit from the Principal and Guidance Counselor of Vassal Lane Upper School. They learned all about what life is like as a middle school student. They had great questions and loved learning about 6th grade!

Room 107 learned about a special event called Holi. Yyug dad's, Mr. Khandelwal, enlightened us on this cultural event. Holi is a popular festival known as the Festival of Spring and the Festival of Colors. Children and teachers alike, enjoyed expanding their cultural knowledge. Students placed colors on their faces and had sweet treats to acknowledge the event.
VLUS Triad White Caregivers Working Toward Anti-Racism
Hello G&P, Haggerty, Tobin, and VLUS Families,
Please join a monthly affinity group for VLUS Triad White Caregivers Working Toward Anti-Racism. The affinity group will read and discuss various texts throughout the year in order to address our own unconscious biases and to take an active role in fighting white supremacy in our schools, communities, and ourselves. There will be reading to complete before each session, and families are strongly encouraged to make a commitment to attend as many sessions as possible.

Lower Elementary friends in room 107 are enjoying taking part in the National Nutrition Month Bingo. Each day, students participate in movement challenges until a Bingo is achieved, which our class successfully completed. After submitting our results, Ms. Amanda Rivera-Beauchamp and Chef Paul came to our classroom to chat about healthy lunches and delivered a certificate and special prizes to the students.

Throughout the month of March, students in Room 115 have been excited to learn and share about the power of girls for Women’s History Month. Many friends also decided to choose a woman that they felt represented the qualities of strong women. After researching and practicing, they were able to share their knowledge and excitement with others throughout the school!

Cambridge Dads
We are looking for a wonderful person to work on supporting fathers in Cambridge through Cambridge Dads, a program of the Agenda for Children Literacy Initiative and the Center for Families, and would love your help in spreading the word, particularly to any networks you have that include fathers!
We have included the job overview below to give you a sense of the job.
The Fatherhood Project Coordinator will reach out and connect with fathers (especially hard to reach fathers) who either live, learn, work, play, or pray in the City of Cambridge to encourage their participation in ''Cambridge Dads'' activities as well as Agenda for Children (AFC) early literacy and Center for Families (CFF) family support programming. This position will create opportunities to support fathers so they in turn are better able to support their children. The position is based at the Cambridge Public Health Department (CPHD) but the work will also take place at the Center for Families, Department of Human Service Programs (DHSP) as ''Cambridge Dads'' is a shared program.
Here is the link to the full job description as well as the link to apply >>
