Cambridge Street Upper School Principal Search

Available in: Amharic | Arabic | Bengali | Haitian Creole | Spanish

Dear Cambridge Street Upper School Faculty, Staff, and Parents,

I am writing to share news with the CSUS Upper School community on the upcoming search for the next Principal of the CSUS.

We are grateful to Ms. Christen Sohn for leading the CSUS as interim Upper Head this year and for Ms. Tiffany Robinson who has served alongside her as the Interim Assistant Principal. Their commitment to the students, families and educators has been remarkable. They both have used their skill and expertise to support the CSUS school community through this transition.

Selecting a principal is one of the most critical decisions I make as Superintendent. We are committed to having an inclusive search and selection process that is reflective of your school community’s voices. In embarking on the search for the next Principal of CSUS, the first opportunity for engagement in this process is to respond to the Principal search survey. I want to encourage everyone to share your thoughts and feedback on the professional and personal attributes of what you would like to see in the next Principal. Take survey >>

Dr. Gittens will lead the interview process and will be reaching out to engage a representative group of individuals to serve on the interview panel. Dr. Gittens is working collaboratively with the Human Resources Department, which has posted the job description on multiple professional platforms to ensure a high quality pool of applicants.

In embarking on the search for the next Principal of CSUS, we will follow a clearly delineated process to ensure that we are engaging with multiple stakeholders and capturing a variety of perspectives. The interview process for the position will take place in the following three phases, beginning in April:

  • Phase one is the first interview with a panel of school, district and community representatives.
  • Phase two will be an interview with the Superintendent and the Deputy Superintendent of the top three candidates.
  • Phase three will be a community meet and greet with the candidate(s) that the Superintendent and Deputy Superintendent choose. During the meet and greet, the community will be allowed to engage the candidates and submit questions to be asked of the candidate and at the end. Participants will take a survey to share their feedback about each candidate. The Superintendent will then make the final decision about who will be hired.

We anticipate the new Principal being named during the month of May with a start date of July 1, 2022.

Thank you and I look forward to partnering with you to secure the best possible future for all members of the Putnam Avenue Upper School community.

Sincerely,
Victoria L. Greer PhD
Superintendent of Schools
