Estimadas familias,

Atentamente,

Sarah Bartels-Marrero
Directora

Dear Amigos Families,

There is no school tomorrow due to the Good Friday Holiday. Classes will resume on April 25, 2022 after the April Vacation Week.

COVID
8 individuals in our community tested positive for COVID this week. Please continue to keep your child home if he/she/they show any symptoms. Also, if your child tests positive for Covid at home or outside of school, please let me or Nurse Tamara know so we can have as accurate records as possible.

I am happy to share with you that we are going to be able to schedule celebrations, performances and concerts in person as long as attendees comply with:

  • Being fully vaccinated or in possession of an approved exemption
Please note that this guidance is subject to change depending on public health community numbers and everyone who enters needs an appointment or an invitation.

Also, all students and staff will receive a take home COVID test before leaving for the April break. On Sunday, April 24, all students and staff should test to ensure that they are COVID free before returning to school on Monday, April 25th after the break.

Learning Highlights
Earlier this year, 6th grade students wrote essays in the form of a letter to an author they selected, detailing a meaningful connection or realization they discovered in reading their book. Some students then decided to enter their letters in the state Letters About Literature competition, organized by the Massachusetts Center for the Book. Congratulations to Alicia Pité, one of our 6th grade students, for being recognized as one of the 20 finalists statewide in her category for her letter to author Sharon Draper about the novel Out of My Mind. We are so proud of her hard work and achievement!

MCAS
MCAS will continue after April Vacation. If you have any questions regarding MCAS, please don’t hesitate to give us a call. Also, please note that we will collect all/any cell phones in accordance with MCAS administration rules.

The testing schedule is as follows:
April 27th and 28th - 5th Grade Math
May 5th and 6th - 3rd and 4th Grade Math
May 9th and 10th - 6th, 7th, 8th Grade Math
May 10th and 11th - Upper School Math
May 18th and 19th - 5th and 8th Grade Science

8th Grade Graduation
I am happy to announce that we have a date for 8th Grade Graduation this year! Our 8th graders will graduate on Friday, June 24th at 1PM. This means that early-release day for grades JK-7 will be Friday, June 24th as well.

Have a wonderful vacation week!

Sincerely,

Sarah Bartels-Marrero
