Multilingual Connections

Multilingual Connections is a monthly column that features a different article each month devoted to topics of interest for families of multilingual learners.  The articles will come from a variety of sources, and some may also include teaching tips and links to other sources of information on the chosen  topic of the month.

This month, we're again focusing on reading at home with your multilingual learner. Please enjoy the article, which comes from the website, Colorin Colorado.

If you have any suggestions for topics for future articles for this column, please send them to Ms. Beth Benedikt.

Hello G&P, Haggerty, Tobin, and VLUS Families,

VLUS Triad White Caregivers Working Toward Anti-Racism
Date: Thursday, May 5, 2022, 6:45-8PM

Thank You!

We wanted to thank everyone who attended the Animals and the Environment Fundraiser! We had an amazing turnout and lots of Tobin friends and teachers came to support the students.

The beautiful May Day weather brought lots of people outside and we sold out of almost all the baked goodies which helped to raise an incredible $710.74, which we are thrilled to be able to donate to deserving charities that support Animals and the Environment!

Thanks again!

The Animals and the Environment Fundraising Team: Ofelia, Bernadette, Romy, Annika, and Etta + their Moms, Dads and siblings :)

Art & Science in One:
Volunteers Needed

Volunteers wanted in Tobin's outdoor learning program! Parents, grandparents, and anyone who has daytime availability!

As a volunteer mentor in our Art & Science in One program, you'll work with your student partner for five sessions, supporting them through role modeling and other techniques to develop the skills of observation and documentation through text and drawing. Two and one-half hours of training are provided. Experience in a school, with drawing, or in a scientific field is helpful but not required. Enthusiasm for the outdoors, curiosity, and ability to role model close attention and focus is essential.

Tuesdays, training on 5/9 and 5/10, begins May 24 (Lea Lewkowski's class, not for parents in that class).

Email Julie Croston for more information, or sign up for an orientation at outdoors22.eventbrite.com. Application required: bit.ly/volunteerinCPS.
