Message from Christen Sohn

Good afternoon CSUS Parents and Caregivers,

Exciting things are happening at Cambridge Street! The past week we’ve been hard at work hosting scholar-led community meetings, planning collaborative field trips, choosing thoughtful summer reading, coordinating what is going to be an EPIC showcase of scholar artists and performers, and honoring scholars' identities in a myriad of other ways both big and small. THANK YOU to our tremendous educators for their tremendous work and THANK YOU to the caregivers who contributed to this afternoon’s Staff Appreciation Luncheon.

Important Upcoming Dates

  • May 11: 8th Grade End of Year Celebration Planning Night 4:30-7PM VIRTUAL. Link to follow.
  • May 18 and May 19: STE MCAS (8th grade only)*
    • *Scholars in our Small Learning Communities may test on other/additional days as staffing allows. Your child’s teacher will communicate MCAS dates with you directly.
  • May 26: Spring Into The Arts concert and art exhibition
  • June 23: CSUS 8th Grade Graduation

COVID Updates
Our school community had 16 positive COVID cases identified either through outside testing or school-based pool testing over last week from 5/4-5/11. Families at the impacted grade level will receive a separate communication from CSUS. See here for the Superintendent’s most recent communication regarding masking.

If you are interested in receiving weekly at-home rapid tests for your scholar, opt-in through the CPS Family Portal or by contacting Ms. Howard. Rapid tests should be administered Friday mornings before school. Positive results should be reported to the Main Office.

CSUS Art in progress
Art Work in Progress
Keep watching - a new installation is in the works in our breezeway!

Scholars at CSUS are working on a new art mural that will highlight our school values with multicolor lines and text. Scholars in grades 6-8 are welcome to volunteer to work on this special project during Art Recess, Art Club and Ms. Silbert's Drawing Elective.

Thank you for entrusting us with your scholar’s learning. We understand that you have choices regarding your child’s education, and appreciate you choosing CSUS. Your partnership and trust are a huge part of what makes CSUS spell SUCCESS!

Have a wonderful rest of the week!
Christen

Dear CSUS Parents and Caregivers,

We want to celebrate our school staff and educators this month with a staff appreciation lunch organized by the CSUS Caregiver Organization (PCO).

We need to raise about $500-600 to pay for lunch. If you are able to help, please drop off checks made payable to “Cambridge Street Upper School PCO” or visit the following link to donate online. Donate here >>

Questions? Contact Shannon Canavin about the event or Tina Lieu about donations.

Sincerely,
