STEAM Night

STEAM Night Fun

On Wednesday, May 11th our community came together for a fun-filled STEAM night! We had a fantastic time. Most of the activities were outside this year. We had 13 stations: Haggerty Data Station (Nili Pearlmutter & Margie Singer), Pedal Power (All in Energy & Community Development Dept.), BOTS! (Alicia Volipicelli), Heart Rate & Exercise (Liz Paci), Mystic River Watershed (Mystic River Watershed Association), Wind Tube (built by Stos Koyanis), Surface Tension Exploration (Fikile Brushett), Bee Bots (Kevin McGonegal), Math Circle Mania (Nataliya Yufia), Recycled City (Anthony Reynolds and Amanda Bock), CitySprouts Garden (Heather Fisher), Guided Building (Colette Dewan), and Bottle Blast Off! (Carroll Magill and Cameron Wu). We would like to thank Carroll Magill, Haggerty parent, for once again organizing his wonderful, engaging event.
Thanks to FOH for funding the materials for this amazing event!

Art Corner! By Mr. Reynolds

Recycled ArtRecycled City!
In art all semester students have been working on a huge, whole school collaboration: Recycled City! Hundreds of repurposed cardboard boxes, around 1,000 hot glue sticks, and anything else the students could think of came together in a project that pushed collaboration and imagination to the forefront. See link in title for a video of the whole city!

Rainforest

Rainforest Animals Visit Kindergarten

All of our JK/Kindergarten classrooms were visited by a variety of Rainforest animals on a recent morning. They had a great time learning about and touching (!) the animals. They saw a black and white tegus lizard, a crocodile, a boa constrictor, and a red-footed tortoise. Thanks to Friends of Haggerty for funding this awesome experience.

Race Matters: Courageous Conversations

Please join a monthly affinity group for VLUS Triad White Caregivers Working Toward Anti-Racism.

The affinity group will read and discuss various texts throughout the year in order to address our own unconscious biases and to take an active role in fighting white supremacy in our schools, communities, and ourselves. There will be reading to complete before each session, and families are strongly encouraged to make a commitment to attend as many sessions as possible.

Next Meeting: Thursday, June 2nd, 6:45-8PM
What do we want our work together to look like next year?
NOTE: There is NO reading for this session.

Register in advance for this meeting. Register here >>
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
