Tobin Snapshots

Children’s House #7 are learning about the life cycle of butterflies. They watched the caterpillars grow vigorously and made their own chrysalis. They waited for two weeks and observed butterflies coming out of their chrysalises. Each week they journaled each stage of the life cycle of a butterfly. Finally they released them in a nearby park.

Calling All Parent Volunteers! Help Wanted on Tobin Fun Day on June 22!

Tobin Fun Day (formerly known as Tobin Field Day) is an end of year celebration that will take place on Wednesday, June 22. This special day will transform our normal school grounds into a fun-filled playland with carnival games, popsicle stands, and more! To help the day run smoothly, Friends of Tobin is recruiting parent volunteers to sign up and support the school - we have 75 volunteer slots to fill! Sign up now! This is a great opportunity for you to get involved, meet staff, see where your kids spend their days, and join in this end of school year celebration!

All volunteers will need to submit a CORI form to Ms. Krissie in the Main Office by THIS Friday.

Tobin Snapshots

We had Ms. Gohar Dashti, Damoun’s mom who is an accomplished photographer with work in museums around the world, come in and teach us about photography and take our pictures with our favorite materials and each other. We then decorated our own frames to place the photos inside.

landmarks
Tobin Snapshots

Last week, all five Lower Elementary classes had a guided tour of Cambridge Landmarks near Harvard Square. Did you know that Cambridge used to have the name Newtowne? Did you know that General George Washington trained people for the Continental Army, and the best artillery expert he found in Cambridge only knew about weapons from books? Did you know that Mary Walker escaped slavery and owned a house in Cambridge? Did you know that tourists like to rub the left shoe of John Harvard's statue--but Harvard students do something outrageous with it?!? Ask a Lower Elementary student to find out more...

The students in Children's House 3 classroom have been focusing on the Human Body unit. By using various Montessori materials, the students learn how all the organs work together, how the skeletal system supports the structure of the body and protects the organs, how our brain functions like a control center, and many interesting facts. We sing a fun The Hokey Pokey song and use the bone names - come to CH 3 and sing with us!
