BioBlitz!
In conjunction with the City of Cambridge, all five lower elementary classes participated in a student BioBlitz at the Fresh Pond Reservation on June 4th. A BioBlitz is an intense period of biological surveying in an attempt to record all the living species within a designated area. Groups of scientists, naturalists and volunteers conduct an intensive field study over a continuous time period. Each class spent approximately one hour surveying the biology at Lusitania Meadow within the Reservation. Students observed an exciting variety of specimen from land snails, to spittle bugs, to purple lupine. The staff at the City Water Department will use the data to build a database of lives at the Reservation. Ask your LE student what they saw!

Girls' Day...
...and what a day it was! All the 5th grade girls from around the city gathered at Danehy Park for a fun-filled day of activities! The best part of the day was meeting other girls from the other schools, some of whom will be our classmates when we go off to the Upper School!
Butterfly Release!
Room 286 went out the the CitySprouts garden this week to release the butterflies that they hatched in their classroom. The sun was shining, and the butterflies took flight into the garden! It was a wonderful thing to watch, and the children were so excited!
Water Works Day
Many of our classrooms recently went over to Fresh Pond and had a great day! The children got a tour of the Water Dept and saw how our water is cleaned so we can drink it, and we got to go on the huge fire truck and dump truck. There were so many activities set up for us! We had so much fun, and it is an event we look forward to each year. Ms. Stacey & Mr. Neal even had fun taking a selfie!! Thanks to Cambridge Water Dept. for another successful Water Works Day!
Spring Tea in Room 282
Room 282 held their annual Spring Tea on Tuesday. All the children invited a special guest to join them for tea, cookies, and fruit kabobs! Even Ms. Megan invited her parents as her special guests.
