Welcome Back!
Hello and welcome or welcome back to CSUS, home of the award winning Cobras!
We hope you had an enjoyable summer and are ready to begin the school year! The first day of school is Tuesday,
September 8. School officially begins at 8:40AM. Our school day ends at 2:55PM.
First semester schedules will be mailed the week of August 24. Information about your scholar’s Advisory teacher
and room number are printed on your scholar’s schedule. Any scholar that did not receive a schedule in the mail will
have the opportunity to get his or her Advisory information when he or she arrives at school on the 8th. Grade 6 and
other new scholars can also pick up their class schedule at our New Scholar Orientation on September 2nd, which will
take place from 5:30 - 7PM at CSUS. Scholars and families will be able to tour the building, ask questions, meet
teachers, and learn about their schedule.
All scholars should report directly to their Advisory classroom if they arrive at school after 8:40AM. Scholars that arrive
earlier should wait in the cafeteria until they are released to classrooms by supervisory staff. Staff and volunteers will
be positioned in the main lobby, cafeteria and throughout the upper school to help scholars find their way.
School buses drop off at the King Open/Cambridge Street Upper School main entrance on Cambridge Street. All
CSUS scholars on the second floor are expected to exit from the Berkshire Street doors. Arts and P.E. scholars will exit
through the front door. Scholars taking buses home can meet their school bus in front of the building on Cambridge
Street.
Classroom teachers will distribute materials lists during the first week of school, and we warmly invite all parents and
caregivers to attend our annual Back to School Night on October 6th. More information regarding Back to School
Night and other important events, including upcoming meeting times for our School Council and Parent Caregiver Organization (PCO), will be shared with you via the weekly Tuesday Take Home email. The first week all school to
home communication will be sent home on Wed. Sept. 9th.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact the CSUS Main Office at 617.349.3050. Any
transportation-related questions should be directed to the Office of Transportation at 617.349.6862.
We are looking forward to meeting and getting to know all of our incoming scholars and welcoming our returning 7th
and 8th graders and their families back to CSUS. We look forward to seeing your scholar on September 8th, and to
your continued support throughout the year!
Peace,
Manuel J Fernandez
Head of School
