The Cambridgeport School
Family Liaison
Cambridge Public Schools urge families to become aware – ask questions, advocate, support, and monitor their children’s education. As your family liaison, I encourage families in various ways to do the above.

The liaison assists in communication between home and school and encourages families to get involved .(e.g., see the “Become a Cambridgeport School Volunteer” form). The liaison also arranges and conducts tours for prospective families. The liaison provides a bimonthly newsletter “The Cambridgeport Connections” and works with the staff to make C’port a welcoming place for all families.

The liaison meets with room parents on the second Wednesday of each month to explore and work on a variety of issues important to parents. If you need a volunteer form, please feel free to see me. Or pick up a volunteer form from the wall document holders on the first floor, or see the Parent Organizations page on our website.

Please feel free to stop by my office and say ‘hello.’ My regular hours are Mon. 7:30AM-2:30PM; Tue/Wed/Thurs 7:30AM-1:30PM. The Family Liaison’s office is located on the first floor to the right of the stairs. You may also reach me at [email protected] or call 617.349.6587 x111.

Club Z! Offers One-on-One Tutoring in the Student’s Home
We provide tutoring in all subjects (K- 12), including ACT and SAT test prep and foreign languages (Spanish, French, Portuguese, Mandarin and Arabic). Our number one goal is to raise grades in the classroom. Our qualified tutors work with the student’s school curriculum, instead of a pre-determined program that may not relate to current class work. Club Z! tutors also teach effective study skills helping students learn “smarter”. Please visit www.clubztutoring.com/cambridge for more information.

The Solar System Pop Up Playground is a community project designed to inspire students, educators, and people of all ages through space related STEAM (Science, technology, engineering, arts, math) activities. Our community event is meant to foster collaborative learning experiences through creative play and physical activity designed by local students and educators. Interact with the eight planets and Pluto, build your own jetpacks out of recycled materials, get lost in the International Space Station Labyrinth, and much more. Produced in partnership with Jason Behrens.

International Walk and Bike to School Day
On Wednesday, October 7th Cambridge celebrates International Walk and Bike to School Day! Families are encouraged to take some time out to promote health, safety, and the environment by biking or walking to school with their children. It’s a great way to help your child learn and practice safe bicycle and pedestrian skills while improving air quality and reducing traffic congestion around our school. For more information on the Safe Routes to School program, you can visit www.cambridgema.gov/saferoutes or contact the Safe Routes to School coordinator, Justin Schreiber, at [email protected] or 617.349.6012.

North Cambridge Family Opera is holding auditions for their spring production, Weaver’s Wedding. The story is based on a Bengali folktale about a wily Jackal who arranges the marriage of a poor Weaver to a grand Princess – with surprising consequences! The auditions are open to adults and children age 7 and up. No experience is necessary. Children under 10 must have an adult participate with them. The auditions are very low key and everyone who auditions will get a part in the show. These productions are lots of fun for both participants and audience. The performances will be March 12, 13, 19 and 20, 2016.
Here are the details: Auditions for Weaver’s Wedding Sat. & Sun. October 17 & 18 Sat. & Sun. October 24 & 25 1pm to 7pm at Deborah Mason School of Dance 624 Somerville Avenue, Somerville.
