Greetings from Principal Julie Craven
Dear RAUC Families,

I hope you had a restful holiday. It can sometimes be hard to return to work after a break. We are fortunate here at school to have the pleasure of student smiles to ease our transition back.

In case you missed the Wednesday email or our Facebook video, we have revealed the new RAUC core values: We R.A.U.C!  We Reflect, Aim high, seek Unity, and have Compassion. These values came about through an extended process: all students, staff and families had an opportunity to identify their individual four values; within each group, people came together to discuss their values in ever-expanding groups, each time identifying the four values that best captured the key points (the family process was a little different); finally, two students, two staff, and two family representatives came together to come up with these final four. We even came up with a gesture for each value – see if your student can remember them!

Now the work begins! This year our goal is to engage students in activities to bring the core values alive. Our plan is to focus on one core value each month in some advisory activities and through the core classes. In this newsletter you can see the core value statements that we created to help guide this work – within them we hope you see traces of the values you identified. Our staff goal is to plan for structures and practices that support our core values which we can implement school wide for next year. It will be a journey, most likely with some ups and downs, but we are excited to begin it!

Have a great week!

Julie Craven
